As of an hour ago, Washington State Governor Jay Inslee has decreed that all restaurants and bars in the state will be closed for dine in: take out and delivery only now. Recreational facilities are also closed. But that isn’t even close to the worst of it. He has also decreed that all gatherings shall be limited to 50 people or less. If that isn’t a direct violation of our first-amendment rights, I don’t know what is. Not only can I not peaceably assemble, I cannot freely exercise my religion by going to church. What do all you think of this? It seems to me like a major overstep of authority. I’m an adult; I can decide that I want to risk my health by eating at Wendy’s. I should also be able to decide that I want to further risk my health by dining in at Wendy’s.

Can you present an alternative? Would appreciate it.
Yes, I would say that recommending avoidance of groups would be appropriate, but a government ordering the avoidance of groups bothers me. We shouldn’t lose our freedom just because there is a threat.
Sad state of affairs. But this is the peoples Republic of Washington.
Ohio also ordered all restaurants and bars closed except for takeout or delivery. No limit on assemblies so far.
