Humm, “deconstruction” is not the sole domain of the progressive.
20 years ago, in the valley of Bamiyan, another group of slightly regressive folk got together to destroy some magnificent cliff carvings dating back to the 6th century. They “deconstructed” the amazing Buddhas of Bamiyan.
This was on video and distributed around the world. It can’t be painted over.

The concept of “deconstruction” has been completely bastardized by the modern entertainment industry. Traditional deconstruction means pushing the characters and/or universe to their logical boundaries while remaining true to them. Today’s version of deconstruction is more akin to just plain destruction.
For an example of what a proper deconstruction is supposed to look like, I always point to the sixth Star Trek movie. Here, the cast, most notably Kirk himself, are pushed to the edge by circumstance to the point that several of the actors were physically uncomfortable with the lines they were given to read. Yet the writing never betrayed the characters, and by the end of the movie they are stronger and more well defined from the experience.
Good episode! By coincidence, The Critical Drinker just posted a video where he discusses how Hollywood has deconstructed beloved characters. He presents this with his usual razor-sharp insight and wit. This Virtue Signal episode and the Critical Drinker’s “Why Modern Movies Suck – Destroying Our Heroes” make great bookends for a chilly Tuesday morning.

The people who claim to know the path to an egalitarian utopia, who claim to be the only ones fit to guide the world into their promise of a glorious humanistic future — Are so afraid of History that they mightily seek to murder it whenever it’s not convenient.
It seems to me that they think they’ve killed God and if they can kill God then killing anything including the past is child’s play.
If God and History can be killed then if you or I are inconvenient to them we’ll get the same treatment.
This is a one-sided fight to the death. If we win, we continue to advance the human condition for everyone, including our enemies. If we lose we perish, at least ideologically and very likely physically too.
This is nothing novel. The struggle between Good and Evil has been raging for millenia.
Jordan Peterson calls our foe “The Deconstructionist Post-Modern neo-Marxist Left” and that’s as good a label as any. But it’s not a new thing. It is simply the current iteration of Evil. If it is overcome, something else will replace it and the struggle will continue.
History teaches us this is so. Perhaps that’s why they so greatly desire to murder History.
Demolition is quick and easy, but building takes time and effort.
Ideas so stupid, only an intellectual could believe them.

Establish Justice. Means not there yet, must be established. Insure domestic tranquility. Already there. Just make sure it stays that way. Provide for the common defence. Not there. Provide (pay, for one thing) the armed forces. Promote the general Welfare. Already there. Sell it! Note general. Not one part at the expense of another. Overall. Secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity. Already there. Keep it that way! Pass it on to future generations.
Simple, really. Yet somehow messed up. People tend to do that.
I do not consider what I did to be deconstruction. Rather, amplification instead.
Why not start deconstructing The Radical Left’s icons, starting with ZInn & Alinsky? From there we can go onto their garbage pop icons – Captain Marvel was actually LGBQWERTY-phobic, Rey would have been a Trump supporter, etc.
