I was talking to my kids who are 12 and 8. I told them that they should pay more attention to what politicians do than what they say. President Trump has accomplished a lot of great things, but his tweets have been a disaster.
Take a step back and think about politicians generally. We know they are lying when their lips move. So you have to pay attention to what they do. Trump wasn’t treated that way. Maybe it’s because people instinctively know that he isn’t a politician. Maybe it’s because snowflakes can’t handle hearing something other than what they’ve been indoctrinated with.
But in my last post I talked about my fears based on what the progressives are saying. To recap, they are making a list and making plans to exact revenge against political enemies. Their lips are moving, so should I just relax and wait until I see their actions? Did I give good advice to my kids?
I think that’s a worthwhile thing to ponder. So far, the progressive media and big tech have been silencing conservatives and news harmful to their candidates. That’s not the actions of actual politicians, but they seem to work in concert with each other. We saw that behavior with the IRS under Obama-Biden against the Tea Party Movement. We saw that treatment of President Trump with the impeachment hoax and Russia-gate. There are rumors of activists going after Trump’s lawyers fighting election irregularities.
But will they come after us? They may not have to. The government may not officially come after us because the cancel culture has become quite effective at punishing and silencing us.
So am I giving my kids good advice, or teaching them to wear the same tinfoil hat their dad wears? Am I being consistent in my actions with what I’m teaching my kids? I think I am, but with definite room for improvement.

It’s good to look at actions, but I also think words count. You can get a lot out of what they’re saying (and often what they’re not saying). I’d suggest teaching them to look at sources; rate them for bias, trustworthiness; seek corroborating evidence and look at both sides of each argument. Some statements you can take to the bank, even from the left.
The Bible says “By their fruits you shall know them.” And “faith without works is dead.” Words can give you warning as to what may come, and the warning should be heeded. But results is what really counts. I’d rather have a foul mouthed adulterer that allows my freedom than a smooth talking, charming, charismatic, good looking person who wants me in chains.
