ways forward for billwhittle et al.

I’m a new member and have some thoughts about the recent video, The Road Forward.

It’s important that the thrust when diverted from politics keep the same note. I get it that Bill is inspired by sci-fi animation, but I’m not sure that leads meaningfully to influencing audience. It’s possible his artistic passion is skewing the direction.

What it may be picking up on, however, is the tremendous longing in men, young and older, for heroic adventure, initiation (in the Jungian-anthropological sense), and brotherly-fatherly encouragement, virtuous challenge, and validation. Conservative values and arts are primo sources for this direction. A kind of not-so-earnest or dense, much more playful, Jordan Peterson-y feeling.

Locate, inspire, and informally train rising sheepdogs. Kyle Rittenhouse touched hearts, may God preserve him.

Something else, given the cultural fascination with celebrity, how about real paparazzi investigative reporting on the existential truth of the lives of the elite? [“stipendium peccati” as it were. Alternatively, “clementina quoniam tu benedices justo.”] It’s vital that we harness people’s emotional imagery of the desirable life. This would have to be done with care, either find reformed celebrities or fund a judgment-proof entity to publish. Or research and deliver already-published material, adding trenchant, entertaining commentary.

Off the wall thoughts. The hazard is summed up in the experience of a local Methodist church which stopped singing hymns the faithful Old Gals liked, then attracted exactly zero young families.

It seems to be the case, now that national push is giving way to shove, your accelerated membership is coming from the existing format. It’s worth safeguarding while resolving platform questions.

Barbara Cavanagh
