I was listening to the newest episode of the stratosphere lounge and Bill was speaking about how it took him 2 years to learn unreal well enough to be able to do the cool stuff that he has been working on behind the scenes. Additionally, he was talking about the YouTube channel Dust and how it is hard to keep short stories like that going by submitting them to channels like Dust. This was when a thought struck me. We the members are a massive resource for generating stories and ideas and that power should be harnessed.
Why don’t we start working on animations or short stories or any other pop culture stuff and put it up here on the website to share with other members and if enough of us enjoy a particular one (assuming it would work on a place like YouTube/Rumble) maybe upload it to the Bill Whittle channels for the world to see. This is not a very fleshed out idea at the moment but maybe it would help spread the load of making cool stories from just Bill’s shoulders to all of our shoulders.
Personally I am not very good at things like Unreal but I do enjoy world building for things like Dungeons and Dragons as well as making odd fantasy maps. So why don’t we all take the creative hobbies that we already enjoy and put some of that stuff here on the site.
Just a thought for the members to chew on, please leave your thoughts/ideas in the comments section and Godspeed to all!
Note: The image I used in this post is a map I made I made in the software Wonderdraft

The people I have gamed with in role-playing games (D&D and Champions: a super hero role playing game) say i set up environments, backgrounds, personalities, etc., to tell good stories. However, right with an ill wife, i don’t have the time to do this like I did. Maybe someday.
I have no skill in graphics and such but I can write dialog to fit a storyline reasonably well.
Bill should have the final editing control. If we can get together and give him something to work with he can slick it up and make it march.
PM me if this goes anywhere.
I agree. I went to school for Game Design and did most of my work in Unity, but have some experience in Unreal. My stills are mostly in programming, however, but can assist in things around design. I also haven’t been able to listen to TSL in a while, so that’s my bad.
Ah I remember when I thought I could be a video game designer… good times. I am also a programmer by trade so I completely get where you are coming from. I am more thinking of creative stuff that members already do in their spare time (and maybe jumping into animation and stuff like that if you have the willingness). It would really need to be something everyone is cool with not getting paid for since that really doesn’t seem feasible to be, happy to be proven wrong on that but just my read. I need to flesh out the idea more soon but I just wanted to get it out there for people to ponder.
Yeah, I agree. I’m just throwing out ideas because I am a audio/visual learner, but I am not a good audio/visual teacher. The way my brain processes information makes it easier for me to build tools for others to use in teaching others than to use the tools myself… If that makes any sense.
