This is one of those things that is often said, and just because it’s often said that doesn’t mean it’s not true.
I would say I’m more right-wing, or at least, less willing to compromise, than I was a decade ago. Many of the people I like to watch for their political insight started out as lefties, or at least cultural lberals, of one sort or another and have moved right. Most of my friends are likewise and, although there are exceptions, I do think the statement that we get more right-wing as we get older is broadly true.
Until, of course, we die. After folk die, they vote Democrat!

As has been said by Bill and others here, as you get older, you tend to have the stupid beat out of you. As to myself, I’ve always been basically right wing. Only exception until high school and forced to debate on it is capital punishment. Why the #&%$ are we paying to keep obvious murders alive until they die naturally? Isn’t prison supposed to not be pleasant, so dying may be more humane than spending decades in prison?
This made me laugh. I was following your thought and your logic and you sucked me right in. And then the ZINGER. Well done, Sir! (and yes, that’s exactly when you vote democratic).
I’d say more realistic, more aligned with reality, than more right wing. There are right-wing ideas I disagree with, sometimes very strongly. But as far as I can determine (and I work like hell on this every day), I’m a lot more agreement with the way reality works than I used to be.
Isn’t it amazing how all the dead people that vote are all democrats.
That is because the dead are the ideal form of brainless to which all living Democrats aspire.
