What’s Old Is New Again

Those of you who have known me over the years, know that I’m a major Geek/Nerd. Comics, Star Trek, Star Wars, Lost in Space, etc.  It matters not, I love it all. I also love classic Cinema; The African Queen, Casablanca, The Maltese Falcon, etc, Brilliant films that never get old.

I married my beloved in the summer of 2017. Since that time, I’ve been able to introduce her to awesome movies and TV shows, like  Galaxy Quest, Tombstone, the MCU, Batman: the Animated Series, and Young Justice, among others . Eileen has always been Nerd Girl, but due to various circumstances, never had the chance to see any of this material.

Inspired by our screening of Kurosawa’s epic Seven Samurai, We’ve been on a bit of a Western kick, lately. High Noon, Shane, and The Magnificent Seven have been some of our recent viewing material. Because of my sweetie’s fresh eyes on these movies and episodes, the barnacles have been knocked off. Now, watching this material isn’t just spending time with old friends, it’s new and exciting, because I can hardly wait to hear Eileen’s reaction.

Her reaction has been pretty positive. Some of what I’ve shown her, she hasn’t liked as much as I do, but she hasn’t hated any of it. Eileen has been reciprocating by showing me some of her favorite anime. I quite liked Project Arms (until the last episode). Generator Gawl was okay. Nerd girls are the best. I’m a truly blessed man. I’ve found my soulmate. God, I love this girl!

If you are doing westerns, I still like Rio Bravo. The Duke, Dean and Angie Dickinson.
Also for fun, after you have watched a few, check out Silverado. I thought is was a great take on classic westerns.

Oh, and the original Lost In Space is on Hulu+ including the original pilot.

Hard to go wrong with a John Wayne Western. I found “Silverado” to be pretty forgettable. TETO. We have LiS on Blu-Ray.

I think one of the reasons I enjoyed Silverado is that it had been so long since there was a big screen release western. Thought it had some good moments and enjoyed Kevin Kline’s character.
