Beautifully articulated and an apt characterization of the small, bitter world and mindset the assailants live in. Well worth watching to the end. I love that he signed off with a clip from Richard Donner’s ’79 Superman — an enduring favorite that I remember going to see with my Dad and have re-watched many times since. It perfectly embodies the kind of heartfelt belief in heroes and in our own culture that’s like garlic to these cynical, energy-sucking vampires. RIP Christopher Reeve.
Why do we need heroes? Simple. Because “There are always men like you.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQQd3Tq5iDE
And you don’t have to be special, much less superhuman, to achieve heroism either. The old man who stands in that scene is just some normal schlub off the street….
…but make no mistake, he’s a hero.
“It’s simple, Marine. You run toward the gunfire, not away from it.”

Excellently done. Syndrome from The Incredibles: “If everyone is special, then no one is.” There must be more to reach for, or why bother? Why dream?
