Just one more post on space and SpaceX’s approach! I promise to discuss Blue Origin at another time.
I found this an interesting video about why Elon Musk chose to go back to stainless steel for his new spaceships. You can stop watching when the fellow starts talking about his site (it gets a bit long), and please excuse his pronunciation of “Mars”:

Excellent info. Really can’t wait to see what the final ship design ends up looking like.
Don’t stop Steve, this stuff is interesting. It is positive and informative in a time when most of what we are being feed in the everyday world is negative with an additional negative spin applied. Elon Musk is obviously trying to keep technology moving forward in a time when almost every other human force is trying to say why we can’t or shouldn’t and I will leave it at that.
Thanks, Buck.
I think Musk is almost a mythical figure out of history, and certainly will be if he actually achieves what he hopes to, but I stand accused of being a fanboy, so I’ll leave it at that.
I like the way he approaches developmental engineering (and he is the lead design engineer, contrary to those who think he’s just a businessman) because it’s the way I did my whole career. He pushes the limits hard, fails, jumps further, and keeps doing it. The method works!
