In 1st Corinthians Paul convinces the Church there to expel a young man for certain reasons. In 2nd Corinthians he convinces them to lift this rejection and welcome him back. What gave him the authority to do this?
The problem with anti Catholics is that they don’t know the scriptures as well as they think they do. If they did, and they were honest with themselves, they would Catholic.

There is no end to those who draw a different Christ that suits them. Ours does not change. The Simon Magus’ of our time are coming and you will wonder who has the power to silence them on that day.

Welllllllllll…. as someone who was raised Catholic and still has a strong sympathy toward its theology (after a wide loop away from it through eastern philosophy and then back to it but from a different perspective) …

Excommunication did not mean you could no longer talk to God or go to church nor did it condemn you to hell.

Here’s a good Cliff Notes version:

Catholicism: Excommunication and Other Penalties – dummies

Makes sense. A Religion is basically a “club” of people and the rules are, “you must believe these things to belong to this club”. If you do things that make it clear that you do not believe those things, especially if you do them publicly and promote them … well then the club has every right to expel you.

But this club, even when it expels you, does not forbid you from coming to the meetings. You just can’t participate in any of the higher ceremonies, and you won’t be buried as a club member

Opinions divorce of facts are ugly things. ~ Socrates (supposedly)
I tried to reason with my niece about the BLM. She and her mother were convinced they were correct and the facts were on their side even though I could point to fact after fact. *sign*

you’re wasting your time trying to reason with women. you may be young and haven’t as yet, come to that truth about life. not only will you be unsuccessful attempting to enlighten them, they will always be convinced they’re smarter.

not suggesting you drop your sister and niece from your posse but you could attempt to keep it on a level that they won’t have trouble comprehending. baking cookies, planting flowers, zumba and dancing with the stars come to mind.

good hunting.

Donald, your opinion of women is very close to mine, and I am one! Even though I am also afflicted with some of the characteristics you so aptly disparage, I disagree that not ALL women can be reasoned with. Give me a reasoned argument, some facts or assertions I can research, and I will gladly change my mind…ok- maybe not gladly, but my mind will be changed. I’m not especially fond of women for the same reasons you don’t like them, but there are exceptions to the rule. Maybe you’ll be lucky enough some day to run across one.

Lynda,
One of my friends (Tony) in college frequently, and humorously, would say, “You need to marry a homely woman.” Then a few years later he married a young lady that was beautiful although she turned few heads. That was many years ago, and I’ve come to realize the adjective Tony was seeking was “humble.” Someone lacking humilty is always, in my experience, the most unattractive person in any room. Unfortunately, too many people lack such a virtue as humility. It seems that, like my wife of nearly 26 years, you do not.

i respect your post. i am 73. married and divorced three times then i had my woke moment at the exact age of fifty. now my life is so much more even keeled and enjoyable. i actually enjoy the company of women more than my posts indicate but i do try to warn young men of the nefarious chicanery afoot when it comes to females. i have a posse of nine and three are real solid conservative women but it takes some work to find those types especially more than one. several years ago i completely culled my posse of all liberals AND sycophant enablers. went from ten down to two and i have slowly wored my way back to nine. no more liberals, feminist and their enablers for me. i have a question for you if you care to take one.

You are certainly welcome to ask me any question you like. If you prefer to keep it private, you can send an email message.

More mentions of “these” people?
Ironic that Bill mentions the ignorance of certainty.
Isn’t evangelization about influencing people to believe what YOU believe? Hasn’t there been force applied by religions to do just that?
Tell me, where does shame come from?

Well, if you have faith in Jesus Christ and let’s just suppose he established a Church as the ordinary means of salvation, that might be important.

I’m praying for you Bill! Scott Ott is a good witness and I thank you for your “Dear God, Please Help Me to Hate White People”  podcast. You made peope remember what Satan wants us to forget!
28 Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian. Acts 26:28

In this episode, Bill’s declared definition of “ignorance” is essentially willful ignorance coupled with a propensity for tyrannical control of others. One word is just insufficient to describe the depravity of individuals who exhibit such characteristics.

Respectfullt disagree. I find that the one word “Leftists” gets the job done!

It does for you and me now; however, if the intent is to convince a younger self, then it is insufficient. My comment is based upon the context of the discussion in the video, not my understanding of modern terminology.

Ignorance is a lack of information. Ignorance can be helped with information. Stupidity is having the knowledge but still actively ignoring the information. Stupidity is not fixable… Also, stupidity is a choice….So I guess they have the freedom to choose to be stupid….

In the words of the great Damien Sandow, “Ignorance is temporary. Stupidity is forever”
