As Minneapolis politicians call for a top to bottom makeover of the Minneapolis police force, cops flee the force in record numbers, many claiming symptoms of PTSD. Even The New York Times acknowledges that crime surges in the wake of George Floyd’s death and the dearth of active law enforcement.

I wish Bill would tell us how he really feels. 😉 Good job, Bill!!!
My son and wife live in downtown Minneapolis. They are terrified. They were told to be in their home by 7:00 PM every night if they know “what is good for you”. They want to leave but their townhouse is now worth less than half of what it was last year. They are very conservative but it will be impossible to vote their way out of this mess. I fear for their safety every day.
I agree with you 100% bill with just one thing to add, the same Democrats want to take away our gun rights. If they do that plus get rid of all the police then what are we going to do? Learn hand to hand combat or are they going to take that away from us and make it illegal?

I couldn’t agree more. Great commentary! Though, Praise God, I don’t live in the City of Buffalo, NY, I see the same thing coming there. The Mayor decided to write an executive order (I do not remember any mayor previously doing so .. but then his hero lives in Albany.); he has decided to change what is considered a handcuff offense and what is considered an Appearance Ticket offense. https://www.wkbw.com/news/i-team/crimes-that-will-get-you-handcuffed-in-buffalo-versus-an-appearance-ticket?fbclid=IwAR38NLrFmtqP5cPVh9nY8nhx5xFJkAA3baSzurBvmqMmPQoH2B5z8GIai0E Handcuff: Rape in the 3rd Degree, escaping (2nd degree) and more. Appearance Ticket: Luring a Child, Persistent Sexual Abuse (leaving a question of how long is persistent .. make it legal to some degree; Possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child; Possessing a sexual performance by a child (What makes one obscene and not the other?) // Who would want to be an Officer with these decisions? // Please check the complete list.
This whole destroy the country, anarchy, Antifa, etc seems to be wrapped around pedophilia (I am only lately becoming aware of it)…
How about reforming those who are insulated from their own arrogance and incompetence by absolute immunity? https://www.lawenforcementtoday.com/reform-police-no-begin-with-courts-prosecutors-and-prisons/?fbclid=IwAR3pGPnV1tpci2GiWHLuXdg0FbL3DeAn85AbHcR5uyFpFoa29PqLYGWwyFg
Bravo, Bill. The people of Minneapolis are only one election away from good governance, or, total collapse. Our Constitution was made for a “government of the people, by the people, for the people.” It is the people that hold the power by their vote. Therefore, our government, local, state and federal, is truly a reflection of the content of the character of the people. But, where will good officers go, Bill? The vast majority of metropolitans are controlled by leftists. That means a majority of voters lean left! Minneapolitans voted for their representatives, therefore let them reap the consequences of their vote!
Not so easy for them to quit with their pensions and benefits not portable. The younger guys can more likely to move and the guys past minimum retirement can also suck up the lost future pension benefit growth they forfeit.
More likely many will stay and try to get out of the direct line of fire of direct policing or at least out of the most dangerous districts. Seniority under collective bargaining contracts dictate that the younger officers will be forced into the vacated positions. All will increasingly avoid any situation likely to result in use of force especially potentially racially charged situations. In Chicago, they call this “going fetal.” Don’t pursue suspects, don’t be aggressive in enforcement and just hang on until you can retire.
As shortages occur and recruiting becomes more difficult, standards will be lowered and more will chose going fetal.
The end result will be the same as what Bill described, it will just take longer. They have been on this slide for decades, but this is current political movement is going to dramatically accelerate the fall.
Not only will standards be lowered as to intellect and physicality but character too opening the door to the feral, sadistic and corrupt.
yep!
Very often getting what you ask for turns out to be worse than not getting it. If you are very lucky, you might be able to survive the experience.
I understand Bill’s point about “That’s what you voted for” …. But I didnt. I live in Cincinnati proper. Mostly (But not totally) Democratic, indeed one of the Republicans in council is black. Still not too bad here, no “defund the police” calls. Indeed, a group that investigated complaints (collaborative agreement) has gotten more funding. Could not easily move if I had to. And if it gets bad enough, I am armed (life member of the NRA) and have 4 dogs, two of which I see going after someone if needed. (Smaller one after crotch, larger one after the throat. The other two would be backup.)
In some of these deep blue areas you don’t have much of a choice, but I suppose that is where the go along to get a long attitude starts to fail. This is a time when good people of great conscience might need to speak up to their neighbors and point out if they don’t want a great big I Told You So sign showing up, they better change their yard signs.
I think I’m going to write to the head of the police unions in: New York, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago, St Louis, Kansas City, Austin, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Seattle, and Portland and suggest exactly what Bill advocates in this video.
