Minneapolis Police to Locals: Do What the Thugs Tell You, Prepare to Be Robbed

Minneapolis police tell locals you should do what criminals tell you, and prepare to be robbed of your iPhone or cash. Is this new guidance from a demoralized, soon-to-be defunded force, a rhetorical tool in negotiations with local politicians who seem eager to slash budgets and take cops off the beat?

Minneapolis police tell locals ‘you should do what criminals tell you’, and prepare to be robbed of your iPhone or cash. Is this new guidance from a demoralized, soon-to-be defunded force, a rhetorical tool in negotiations with local politicians who seem eager to slash budgets and take cops off the beat? Or did someone publish mundane news in this inflamed context so that it seems related to the reaction to the death of George Floyd?

A United States Citizen does not need a government permit to have a gun, or to “bear” (carry) one. A permit is a paper trail.
I’ll bet you a nickel that states that have passed even a watered-down version of so-called “constitutional carry” are not seeing a riotous surge in crime.

I read an article somewhere (Breitbart?) stating that the reason the police department put out this warning was because the precinct, which was several square miles, had only 14 men per shift (fewer than one per square mile I think), and they were getting hundreds of calls per shift.

Bill hit the Grand Slam. Elected officials are A Problem BUT not THE Problem. There is a difference and it is MAJOR. THE Problem is We, the People for without our vote, complacency and “Ignorance is NEVER an excuse for Stupidity, HOQ? would the NEW breed of Democratic Socialist (OXYMORON) and their Party of INSANITY and ANTI-Americanism have the necessary Power to attempt the “fundamental transformation of America?”

I am a super fan of Bill, Scott, and Stephen Green. I have been since my TEA Party days. So, I write the following in cautious reflection.
We are individualists. Our notions of self protection are informed by, not only the idea that police cannot be omnipresent but by the fact that they SHOULD NOT be omnipresent. Self defense, while tragic and often life altering, is a fact of life and nature. Most people do not want, nor do they seek out the kinds of violent confrontation which necessitate armed resistance. When it happens we face penalties of every sort due in part to the due course of justifying threat, harm or death. We, like our uniformed friends, also face people that glorify violent criminals posthumously.
We are unapologetically armed by the laws of nature and the spirit and letter of the Second Amendment. The presence and use of firearms should not be construed to mean a vengeful, willful manhunt of those accused of wrong-doing. A healthy percentage of U.S. citizens bear arms legally. The vast and overwhelming majority do not seek out those that have wronged them on some level, to do grievous or mortal harm. Possession of a firearm is not an expression of intent to harm. It is a basic preparation to resist harm intended by criminals.
Police officers that must use violence in defense of life are afforded the benefit of the doubt for the purposes of a fair hearing. Why should a group of citizens (deprived of recourse) be any different from those officers? Citizens lack public sector unions. They would, doubtless, be held accountable far more readily than an officer of the law for any misdeeds.
Tragedy, Stephen, has already occurred. It has been happening for several months. Property has been burned, vandalized, and stolen. People have been threatened, chased from homes, businesses, jobs, and vehicles. The unfortunate ones have been beaten, stabbed, shot, and otherwise harmed or killed.
Armed groups of citizens are why we have a nation. I cannot say that I know the thoughts and intents of every armed man and woman…Then again, neither could the fine gentlemen that penned the Second Amendment. I guess they just figured that a well armed group of citizens would do what they had to do when pushed to the extreme limits.
Beyond that, I too hope that the police return to this beleaguered place. Preferably in a hurry.

It is, David. It speaks to the idea that citizens can use restraint and force at the same time. Very interesting.

It is a good story…And true story, at that. I am glad that you have found this bit of history.

Voters are not a monolithic block. They are individuals. “Paying the price” is sometimes paying the bill for taking care of family members that cannot afford to move, nor can they care for themselves.
I’m that neon red dot in a deep blue sea of COVID/Biden/anti2A dems.
I’m paying dearly for the idiocy of that sea of stupidity.

“Citizen Patrols” …
Hmmmm … interesting. I cannot speak to its veracity, but I was told many years ago that the word COP is just an acronym: Citizen On Patrol. It is likely that Constable On Patrol is more historically accurate, but we must remember that that police officers are just fellow citizens tasked with a too-often-thankless job.

That’s a backronym. Cop comes from copper, which was British slang for capturing people.

I totally agree with you Bill, the voters of Minneapolis, Seattle and Portland and other cities like that have brought this on themselves and they have no one to blame but themselves. And they’re only way out is to change how they vote. Give it a try as Steve said. You have nothing to lose and so much to gain.

Omni Consumer Products division will gladly take over the policing of Minneapolis; for a small fee. Cleanup of the blood and damage not included in the fee.

Leftist politicians say “Listen to criminals, and do what they say.”
HAH! The leftist thugs in political offices are just speaking of themselves.

The “politicians” who say “You are on your own.” are criminals themselves. They have totally defaulted on their contract with We the People and We the People should treat them as criminals. If we are on our own, we don’t need them. Those kinds of governments should be defunded and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law of the jungle.
