You’ve likely noticed some irregularities in our commenting and real-time notifications systems over the past several days.
We’re troubleshooting an issue that results in [geekspeak] massive ajax requests[/geekspeak] on our server involving the gizmo we use for comments as well as the one we use for real-time notifications.
As a result, I’m periodically deactivating these features and consulting with our webhost, site theme creator, and the folks who built the comments and notifications gizmos.
Not sure how soon we’ll have this ameliorated, but we seem to be making progress. In the meantime, the standard comments system will continue to function, and your comments should be preserved.
We’ll lose comments only if we have to rescue the site from backup after a catastrophic failure…which I don’t anticipate. If you’re concerned that your eternal words might be flushed down the internet memory hole, then keeping a backup of your comments in a text document will allow you to restore them later.
Thank you for your patience.

Thanks Scott for the hard work.
Please ameliorate all the gizmos. If my sage words are lost to the ages, they are lost, and we shall all be diminished.
Thank you for the heads up, and all your hard work, Scott.
Thank you for all of your hard work, Scott!
More widgets means more functionality, but also more ways for things to break, alas. Thanks for the heads-up, and here’s hoping the solution presents itself in short order!
