Recently a German photographer submitted an image that was generated by AI for the Sony prize – and won it. He then proceeded to reject the prize precisely because the image was AI-generated, and the jury didn’t notice that… See e.g. here

Having a background in photography and having read about some of the problems AI has with image creation (hands, eyes), it didn’t take me long to see the discrepancies in the submitted photo.
I can understand how the judges would be behind the curve on computer manipulation of images, but without even a hard scrutiny, the Uncanny Valley jumps out of that image.
This new technology is moving forward at lightning speed, and there will need to be a large dose of caution applied in the use of it once they iron out the code.
