Beta 1.0: Bill Whittle Members Forum Opens

Specifically, folks have wanted a place to talk about and plan practical implementation of some of the ideas Bill Whittle advances in his new Moving Back to America (MB2A) series.

Thanks to frequent Member suggestions, we have just opened our Bill Whittle Member Forum for your exploring, discussing, scheming and debugging pleasure. It looks like this.

Bill Whittle Members Forum Launch

Specifically, folks have wanted a place to talk about and plan practical implementation of some of the ideas Bill Whittle advances in his new Moving Back to America (MB2A) series. So we’ve created several starter forums for that.

We’re also starting with a number of fora where Members can help Members in a variety of ways. We’re always open to suggestions for more.

As with all large projects, I’m sure there will be functional challenges and you can feel free to alert me to them on the General forum, or by sending an email via our Help | Bugs | Ideas form.

It seems to be working nicely. It will be lots of work moderating it though. Remember when the left finds a conservative blog site their first tactic is to hit it with a ton of illegal porn in an attempt to get it banned. Be ready. Guard the membership.

The Left will have to become Members to access the forums. So far, they’ve not been willing to put their money where their mouths are. In addition, we’ve found over the years what we knew when we started the Member blog. Our Members are decent people who don’t require oversight. They police their own ranks, and even that is rarely necessary.

Great idea!
I’m going to now reveal my inner dinosaur-I don’t know how to work in this type of format.
I suppose I will learn. If I step on any toes, I apologize in advance!

Susan, the forum is just a collection of categories, within which you can create topics and then others can reply. The replies are indented just like these blog comment threads. There are other features, but you really don’t need to do anything more difficult than what you’re doing here. Let me know if you need a little coaching.

Freedom of speech and assembly. What a concept. Thanks for creating and then throwing us the lifeline.
May I suggest a forum where members can alert each other about local and/or small businesses to support? Even if I don’t live nearby, I’d buy gift certificates from places being crushed by covid fascism.

The greatest value of Membership, beyond helping to spread these messages to folks who don’t this elsewhere, is the family of Members who surround you now. Thanks, Miles and Mrs. Stoneman.

Can you flesh out this idea for me a bit. What do you see as the benefit of using a forum rather than a blog? I’m very interested in the idea.

Sure. As I see, most of the “blogs” created here are not really meant as blog, just as what would be a forum topic in the first place. But lacking other surface…
So they could be migrated in a simple automated way: under an “old blogs” group create the topic with the blog title, the first message having the blog body and a link to the original place. Then all the replies by date, preserving reply chain.
Supposedly the forum framework has more and better tools to navigate and view the replies. And especially should have simple and advanced search facility.
IMHO the current “blogs” are hard to discover and the replies are a nightmare to read if they are 2-3 level deep.
