Nothing can prevent a psychotic predator from attacking. Nothing. No law, no police force, no reason. Like Nile crocodiles, they do what they do. The best we can hope for is luck and a fighting chance. Citizens must be able to meet force with force, i.e., be equally armed. But this only provides a level playing ground against shooters. It does nothing against bombers. Being armed gives me a chance, but only a slight one. It is, however, a chance I demand. I think the disarming of the citizenry by the NZ government was exactly the wrong thing to do. Ultimate prevention is impossible. The killers have the advantage of initiative, planning, and surprise. Reacting is the best that can be done, once the killers take action. That said, we need to actively hunt such killers down; profile them in advance and then hunt them. Reaction to them must be fatal and swift. Reason does not apply. But such people are a part of human nature. They always have been. And the best we can hope for is that the mass of humanity can kill them quickly when they begin an atrocity. That’s not politics, folks. That’s the reality of nature.
This comming April I will turn 72. The last 52 of those I have been a firearms instructor on several disciplines. But I’m a student still, not an expert.

Criminals, whatever they are legally classified – are COWARDS.
With rare exceptions (Chris Kile) those events happen in gun free zones/cities, full of unnarmed persons.
Violent people only respond to violent reactions. Period.
Persons not accepting that fact are fooling themselves. Criminals will get to us unexpectedly; be prepared or be hurt.
My father was a lifelong journalist. His oft repeated credo to my when I entered college with a goal of a degree in journalism was simply “Good writing is clear thinking made visible”. That also applies to electronic journalism and public speaking. Bill’s comments about the New Zealand shooter shows how well he has mastered the concept. Without stooping to the levels of most commentators, who want to “understand” how a person could do such a thing, he correctly states the fact that a sane person can NEVER probe the sick mind of an insane person. These people are pure evil. They walk among us. The only thing that might be a clue is the total lack of emotion and the “dead” eyes reminiscent of a shark. These are the cold dead eyes of a killer, a window to the soul, or lack thereof. I can only hope that the Second Amendment can withstand the pressures being exerted by those who would have us cower or hide when confronted by this type of situation, which aalmost inevitably ends up making you a victim, not a survivor of these heinous acts.

That description of the shooter being calm and methodical aligns well with the videos I’ve seen of Columbine as well.
Alien Biped is a good term. I’m curious, was the word evil, though implied, avoided purposefully, for example, so as not to alienate the nonspiritual/nonreligious in the audience? Not a criticism just noting the artful communication skill.
Chip, I didn’t avoid using evil not because of the reasons you mentioned, but rather because (in this context at least) I thought it was lazy writing. It assigns an adjective that we all know without really getting to the truth of what evil looks like.
I agree with your choice to not use the word but instead illustrate the cruel, almost quiet, non dramatic efficiency of evil at work, very effective.
Speaking of effective, I would bet that those teachers that participated in the recent ‘Airsoft’ active shooter training event won’t be cowering in the corner should they be involved in a real event no matter how much they are complaining about the exercise being inappropriate. During 20 years of Federal LE firearms training the most effective I witnessed was when ‘Simunition’ was used and the targets shot back.
I have read many analyses of the videos including a former member of Gladio that suggests that the video itself was made prior to the actual event and that it was simply another example of an international crime cabal (Gladio) to ensure one world order. Some actual footage might have been edited back in but that everything about this tragedy smells of a Gladio false flag event. That doesn’t mean it didn’t happen; it means it didn’t happen the way it was portrayed nor was it carried out necessarily by the named perpetrators. Sibel Edmonds of Newsbud, and Ole Dammegard and Cody Snodgres all discussed this event fairly in depth. There were a great deal of discrepancies in the video that made no sense and some of it almost seemed like a video game. The fact is that people were injured and murdered but the person carrying out the act, or blamed for carrying out the act, was clearly mind controlled. This explains his seeming emotionless actions throughout the video. Whether he was simply a patsy or the actual murderer, the end result was already in motion before the act took place: get a gun control legislation package ready to roll after people are induced through fear to agree to lose more rights.
The more we open our eyes to the new world order acts of violence against people of all nations to agree to allow this “government” to protect us, the more chance we have of remaining free individuals. Give up our rights to defend ourselves, and we might as well let them chip us and move us through the slaughterhouse. It is that grim. We must remain vigilant and keep calling them out. As long as the internet allows us to communicate, we can keep it going. As they shut us down, we must find new ways to keep the information channels open.
BTW… please google Cody Snodgres. Now there is a hero of epic proportion.
This needs to be spread broadly across all media. It is an important message, a sane message. Sadly, those with an agenda are being given free rein to spread their messages: anti-gun, anti-white man, anti-anything not having anything to do with evil.
What makes him inhuman is the total corruption of his human spirit or soul.
This guy has probably been this way for a long time and slowly working his way up to this. I’ll bet his cruel side had many tells that those who knew him were uncomfortable around him so there were no close associations. Another thing I would guess is that he was practiced in hiding his demons from full view by others. Think of Hitler’s history.
We can not always be predictive of who is disturbed versus dangerous. Even if we know, in the obvious cases, we have no effective remedy. A five-time felon with a history of violence shot and killed a Chicago cop a couple of weeks ago. On probation. The system is broken. The Colorado theater shooter is a good example.
The protection from them ultimately self-defense. Don’t bring a pocket knife to a gun fight.

Brilliantly stated, Bill. I did not watch the video, but 15 years ago I did watch a similar one. A group of Iraqi terrorists had gathered together about 50 men and boys, then began firing their AKs into them. The victims stood there, helplessly awaiting their fate. They fell like grass to the scythe, but that wasn’t enough for the butchers, who kept pouring more bullets into them, often standing over their prey as they emptied their magazines from pointblank range before reloading and doing it again. This horror went on for several minutes, which seemed like hours. It was exceedingly difficult to watch, but, like you, I want to know my enemy. The cold, methodical monsters I saw could not have been human, for they showed no emotion other than an occasional laugh. Such is the way of devils.
I found the video today. It seemed unreal, like a video game. But unlike a video game, the shooter had no opposition, nothing to stop him, nobody shooting back. Everybody completely at the mercy of the evil that is among us.
Just horrifying. Thank you for watching that so we don’t have to. I read about half of his manifesto before it was removed from the internet, and I made a blog post about it, but I deleted it after a fellow member pointed out to me that much of what was in it was clearly ridiculous, some kind of final sick joke. I felt that I should not be spreading this information that was clearly meant to sow confusion and chaos. What I took away from it was this: whatever the truth of his motives and beliefs, he is totally sane, very intelligent, and utterly evil.
