In the wake of the mono-partisan impeachment of President Donald Trump, you might wonder what’s wrong with the U.S. Constitution that an entire national government can be brought to a standstill, and a country torn apart, to pursue charges that cannot result in conviction. Did the Framers of our governing charter fail to anticipate the craven nature of electoral politics?

If there was any change I would have it be very simple. Make voting in articles of impeachment require 2/3 as well. Or at least significantly more that a simple majority.
That seems like a reasonable adjustment, and what I was angling at…unsuccessfully.
Scott: checked the web page for the cruise, sorry, karaoke is mentioned! I have troubles w/ karaoke as well, especially because there are only words, not notes and timing. I’m used to choir singing, or at least singing from a musical page. And rock- n-roll singing is totally different than choir singing!
Grace, the cruise line offers karaoke, but it’s not a feature of the Bill Whittle Cruise event. That said, I can’t read music, and I’m a good imitator, but to stand up in front of a crowd and hear the track for the first time as you attempt to sing it, seems designed to create amusement for the audience, rather than nice singing. I’d rather do it without accompaniment, as I do all day at the retail store where I work.
All it takes is a few beers! Or vodka’s… Ha! liquid courage. Just joking! It does take a lot of courage and/or confidence to sing (or talk) in front of people. I always used to think my audience was critical, laughing at me, or – worse – pitying me, until I realized that it was just myself doing all that. We are our own worst critic!
I look forward to hearing you sing, neither laughing at, nor pitying you. Perhaps a duet?
Bill and Scott miss the point about the “we get the government we deserve” discussion near the end of the video. The sad truth is only half (give or take) of the eligible voters do so. The point being, half the country does not give a damn about the direction our country is heading. Apathy contributes greatly towards giving us the government we deserve.
We need to educate others about the benefits of conservative principles and encourage them to vote.
…which is what we’ve been trying to do for some 11 years in our own, faltering, sort of way. Thanks, John.
I realize this is a few days late, but since I didn’t watch the House vote stuff….. did Nancy frog march the papers over, or just regular march them over to the Senate? Maybe goose step march?
The photo I saw reminded me of pallbearers.
The Constitution isn’t broken; the people are broken. Our Constitution works perfectly for a moral and religious people, but is now showing its inadequacy for this generation as President John Adams warned in a letter to the Officers of the First Brigade of the Third Division of the Militia of Massachusetts on October 11, 1798:
“[W]e have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. … Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”
The two-party system is a very good representation of the nature between good and evil. A plurality of the American people rose up and elected a Democrat majority House of Representatives. Therefore, everyone with a (D) by their name is party to the party of evil and partakes in their party’s evil deeds. So, don’t blame the politicians; blame the Demoncrats who voted them into office! This country has never been more divided than now and the lack of a “ballot box backlash” will undoubtedly precede self-governance going bye-bye. Our Constitution will be unsustainable when civil war breaks out and good men stand by and do nothing.
I don’t think Gillette did their woke ad campaign thinking it would work, but more as a defensive position. Their shave products have been hemorrhaging market share to Dollar Shave Club, Harry’s, etc. And since there appears to be no way to reverse the trend or recapture their market share, they’re going like Sports Illustrated or ESPN. Establish yourself a small niche (woke Leftists), and cement the loyalty of that core group so they can maintain wherever the bottom out point is.
Of course, the downside is that I’ve been shaving with Gillette for years. I’m not going to throw away the razors I have, but once they’re done they’ll be the last Gillette products I’ll ever own. Whatever – it’s their funeral
Oooeee, oooeee baby, have Bill open with this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5tIHtbctFQ If that doesn’t break down sales resistance nothing will.
Now there’s a man with whom I can share a quiet drink and ponder truths of life. I wish I could go on the BW Cruise to the Bahamas to do so, but a 25th anniversary cruise with my wife takes precedence.
