U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts this week helped the court’s “living document” caucus strike down a Louisiana law requiring abortion providers to have admitting privileges at a local hospital in June Medical Services v. Russo. In 2016, Roberts upheld the same abortion restriction in his dissent against the court’s Whole Women’s Health v. Hellerstedt, and still says that the Texas case was decided wrongly. Yet his enduring devotion to stare decisis (precedent) leads him to save the abortion industry from restrictions designed to guard the health of the mother.

Very well said, Bill. Precedent has now become a greater virtue than rightness. If PRECEDENT is so inviolable, then why wasn’t the precedent BEFORE ROE V WADE inviolable before it was demolished?? America, as reflected in the Person Of Stature, John Roberts, has lost its moral compass. But what is moral, as Pontius Pilate intimated?
“There’s the sentence!” reminded me of the Star Trek episode when Kirk dropped a logic bomb on Lurch and turned him against Corby when he recalled, “THAT was the equation!” Unlike Lurch, logic had nothing to do with this ruling.
Anyone who believes “Abortion is a Human Right” is under God’s strong delusion as written in 2Thessalonians 2:11, “And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:”.
Voting Republican is not a guarantee of good judges. John Roberts was appointed by George W. Bush. Trump has appointed two justices, and one of them isn’t turning out well, either.
While Vote Republican is always a good choice, doing just did give us this ruling, so it isn’t quite good enough. Then again, we didn’t have a 7-2 ruling instead so there is that.
Hey guys, this has nothing to do with the topic. What is a conference call? Maybe I’m not getting it because you haven’t gotten me on mailing list yet? Thanks, Babs
Not sure I understand what you mean by “What is a conference call?”
Well, Scott that’s why I asked you what it was! One of you mentioned it in the last Right Angle (could have been the day before). Not to worry. I guess it’s not that important. Thanks, Babs
Some time back you folks did an episode discussing Justice Ginsberg and the idea that if something unfortunate happened the seat could be left vacant for awhile, as the fight in the senate would be huge. I think the general comment was if she had to resign, it would be 5-3 rather than 5-4.
We know now it would actually be 4-4 and perhaps 3-5.
Lost his way? He is so lost he doesn’t know he is lost.
