After last week’s haviness that is Slayer, let’s dial it back to something more season appropriate. For all of the flak that Hair Metal got (granted, a lot of it deserved), it has it’s place. Allow me to set the scene:
It’s a sunny, 90 degree summer day, and you’re setting out on your road trip to the Jersey Shore, windows down & music blaring. You start the trip right & crack open your first road soda. It’s not a Guiness or some IPA – fine beers in their own right, but not right for the moment. Your road soda is probably some light beer, Corona, or some other Mexican beer. Likewise, the music you’re cranking isn’t Raining Blood or Call of Cthulu – there is more appropiate music. And that’s where lighter metal comes in. For the moment we’re going to ignore the obvious choice of Van Halen & give you a few other good servings for your next road trip. Enjoy!
Yeah, everyone loves to rip on Kip and the boys. But if you never listened to their debut album, I will argue witrh my dying breeath that is the greatest glam metal album ever made by a band not named Kiss!
Great song by Poison that starngely naver made the airwaves. It’s the opening track from “Open up…”, and if you haven’t heard it you’ve missed out
I never really got The Scorpions. Not awful, but there are a lot of bands that deserve the amount of airplay thatt hey get a lot more. Here’s the best song of theirs that you’ve probably never heard.
There will be more editions of this underappreciated genre, but this is a start. Who ya got?
