Greta Expectations: How Dare You Do Nothing After a Speech Like That?

Greta Thunberg marvels that nothing has happened since the 17-year-old Swedish climate activist made a speech at the United Nations last year. Who will tell the young that change doesn’t happen like that…nor very quickly. Bill Whittle stands well equipped to do what somebody must: shatter the dreams of the young.

Scott, there is already a Revolution going on and very Peaceful. It is called the Trump Revolution that is attempting to take America back in an America where a small minority is attempting to “fundamentally transform America” while a much large Majority is looking on. Martin Niemöller:
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a
socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— because I was not a
trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

According to the Climate Change Gaggle of “experts,” they have made many Predictions on the “End of Times.” This started in 1949 and has not stopped its momentum or taken a breath to date. Accords/Treaties MUST be signed and implemented to protect the Planet and STOP Mankind from destroying itself. Multi-Millions will die and eventually ALL Humanity will perish. The Climate DENIERS are wrong and according to the Climate Predictors action is necessary NOW.

With FAILURE after FAILURE in PREDICTING what will happen tomorrow, the Climate Alarmists don’t nor will they stop with their Doomsday Prophecies. Chuck Todd one of the “great experts” on Climate Change has stated on his FAKENEWS Face the Nation that Climate DENIERS are not welcome. The Science is settled. The Science is settled. I guess in the Collectivist mindset of the Climate Change Gaggle of advocates that “settled” actually means that FAILURE is the new normal for correct.

Below is a list of the various PREDICTIONS. Not a single one, ZERO became TRUE.

1. Dr. Paul Erhlich warned ion 1969: “The trouble with almost all environmental problems is that by the time we have enough evidence to convince people, you’re dead. We must realize that unless we’re extremely lucky, everybody will disappear in a cloud of blue steam in 20 years.”

2. 2000, Dr. David Viner, 2000: winter snowfall would become “a very rare and exciting event

3. 2004, the U.S. Pentagon: a) major European cities would be beneath rising seas b) Britain will be plunged into a Siberian climate by 2020 c) 2008, Al Gore polar ice cap would be gone in a mere 10 years d) U.S. Department of Energy study led by the U.S. Navy predicted the Arctic Ocean would experience an ice-free summer by 2016

4. 2014, French Foreign Minister: “we have 500 days to avoid climate chaos”

5. 1970, Peter Gunter: “Demographers agree almost unanimously on the following grim timetable: a) by 1975 widespread famines will begin in India these will spread by 1990 to include all of India, Pakistan, China and the Near East, Africa b) 2000, or sooner, South and Central America will exist under famine conditions. c) 2000, thirty years from now, the entire world, with the exception of Western Europe, North America, and Australia, will be in famine”

6. Kenneth Watt, 1970: a) “If present trends continue, the world will be about four degrees colder for the global mean temperature in 1990 b) eleven degrees colder in the year 2000” c) “This is about twice what it would take to put us into an ice age” d) 2000, if present trends continue, we will be using up crude oil at such a rate … that there won’t be any more crude oil.”

7) Harrison Brown, 1970: humanity would run out of copper shortly after 2000. Lead, zinc, tin, gold and silver would be gone before 1990

8) US government: a) 1939, the U.S. Department of the Interior predicted that American oil supplies would last for only another 13 years b) 1949, end of US oil supplies c) 1974, the U.S. Department of the Interior predicted that American oil supplies would last for only another 13 years.

Are the Gaggle of Climate Change advocates really interested in protecting the Planet and securing a habitable environment for Mankind and all the other species? Might they have alternative MEANS where their END goal will justify any and ALL Means necessary to achieve what they truly want? Could their primary GOAL be for the “fundamental transformation” of every Nation?

I agree that she is being used as a useful idiot… But maybe she and her family should be more concerned about the “demographic” destruction of her own country… gonna happen a lot sooner than any global warming issues…

Greta deserves to have her spirit crushed because she’s flat out wrong! That big ball of light in the sky has immensely more influence on earth than Scoldilock’s puny anthropogenic nonsense. She’s not searching for truth; she’s a trowel with a scowl!

“When I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be 21, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years.” Mark Twain

I’m reminded of reports of children upset and wailing that Donald Trump had been elected. Why do these children even know an election had taken place? Because the parents involve them in all aspects of their (the parents) lives. So if the parents are upset about election results, the children are going to be upset, too. Not so much about the election outcome as watching their parents melt down. That has to be extremely frightening for a child to see.

When I was growing up in the 50’s/60’s we didn’t hang around adults, in fact, our parents didn’t allow us to listen in on their conversations. My parents never discussed any worldly events with my siblings and me. What would be the point? We were expected to do what children do — go play outside, stay out of trouble and be home in time for dinner. Poor Greta must feel like she has the weight of the world on her shoulders. Shame on her parents and those who would use her for their own sinister devices.

I regret that I have but one up vote to give this comment.
I had no real idea what my parents thought about politics until I got old enough to be interested. Happened to be around the time Carter was getting elected. Then I started asking my dad questions.

My hart goes out to this young girl. When parents purposely try to put fear in a child it is nothing but blatant child abuse to which Greta is a poster child for an abused child.

I feel very sorry for Greta. I remember the 1979 Time Magazine cover with a picture of an iceberg and the cover story about the coming ice age. I read the article. I was very alarmed. I lived in a semi-tropical place where snow was rare and I did not want it to be cold all the time. After reading the article, I talked about it with my parents. I do not remember exactly what they said, but they reassured me about a couple of things: (1) it was just a theory, and probably wouldn’t happen, ([1a] just because you read it in the news doesn’t mean it’s true) and (2) even if it did happen, humanity would adapt, because we’re really good at that and really good at finding solutions. We would be fine. They probably also told me about the warnings of worldwide famine from the previous decade that had not materialized.

So I was innoculated. When they first started talking about “global warming,” my response was, “yeah, well, in 1979 they said it was going to be an ice age. I’ll wait and see.”

So I’m very sorry for Greta. I remember what it was like to be frightened of the future when “experts” predict doom in the news media. I can only imagine what it would have been like had my parents and all of my teachers reinforced the fear of doom instead of reassuring me. I’d probably have ended up with an eating disorder and Apserger’s too.

Steve, love the joke about the cows – I still remember the first time I heard that when Robert Duvall imparted that wisdom onto Sean Penn in “Colors”!

My father used to address the problem directly with humor so that we would notice when we began to feel like we knew everything. His saying was: “No one knows more than someone who’s just graduated from college unless it’s someone who’s just graduated from high school.” To which I would add, “unless it’s someone who hasn’t even graduated from high school yet.” That way he wasn’t discouraging any particular ideas so much as he was pointing out that the older we grew, the more we would know and more we would understand all of the things we didn’t know. Which was something he also said from time to time. But the joke was more often what he repeated.

She needs a huge dose of reality if she thinks anyone but wannabes who are not anything for real would listen to anything she says. I suspect she has lived in a cocooned environment that has protected her from the normal slings and arrows that beat some sense into most teenagers.

With her diagnosis she can’t live in the real world without many years of very demanding reality based treatment. With our PC world, this is not about to happen. She is going to continue to live as a total parasite and drag on society until the 12th of never. The best thing that could happen to her is that she will be ignored. The worst thing that could happen to her is that she believes someone-anyone is listening to her and is allowed to continue in her delusions.
