Did I love this movie, or hate it? I can’t decide. The slow-motion train-wreck that was Arthur Fleck’s descent into madness was fascinating to watch, and brilliantly portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix. What a performance. Oscar worthy, IMHO.And then, we get to the Third Act, and find out that the TRUE villain of the piece is Thomas Wayne (Read: Donald Trump), and that Antifa and the “Resistance” are the heroes. The Joker isn’t a homicidal madman who needs to be stopped, he’s just another victim of the unjustness that is America. Phooey. I’ve decided; It’s dreck. Well made dreck, but still dreck. For all of it’s brilliance, the subtext puts me off. 4/10
