Let’s Go Brandon?? Or NO!

Many take offense to this little meme saying.  The question is “should we”?  I am going to say “no”.  OK OK OK!  I just heard your collective gasps of horror!  Me, a conservative Christian just said what?!?!?!?!   Let’s break this down, shall we?  For those who do not know, I will describe how this got started.  At a recent NASCAR race, the Talladega 500 I believe, the winning driver was a young man named Brandon.  Now leading up to this for many months over the summer, we saw a rash of fans standing and chanting “Fxxk Joe Biden” at various sporting events like college football, baseball, and professional NFL/NBA/MLB etc…. sports venues.  Well, this NASCAR venue was no different.  The winning driver, our friend Brandon, exited his car in close proximity to the crowds in the stands.  All the cameras were on him and the crowd erupted to their feet in the now familiar “fxxk Joe Biden” chant.  A female NBC sports journalist approached Brandon with her camera crew in tow seeking to interview Brandon right there trackside, fresh off his victory lap.  But the crowds chanting was LOUD and could be easily heard over the mic she was carrying which was clearly heard over the NBC broadcast to anybody watching or listening.  I am not sure she understood this clearly.  I think she knew it was coming over her mic, but I am not sure she understood how clearly.  In an attempt to “cover” and play this off as fans cheering for the winning driver, she declared to Brandon, “we can hear the crowds – Let’s Go Brandon”.  As if the crowds were cheering for the driver and not against Joe Biden. I suspect she had NO idea that she was about to spark a national meme that is going to last for years to come.

So, what does it mean when somebody yells out “let’s go Brandon”?  I am glad you asked!  Since the slogan is mostly universally substituted for “Fxxk Joe Biden”, most would say that is the meaning.  But it’s not actually.  The phrase was generated by a national media source to cover over the popular sentiment of the crowds.  She thought she could sanitize the crowd’s literal meaning by offering up “Brandon” as a substitute.  So for me, the phrase means I am mocking the media for trying to lie on camera to the nation.  It mocks the popular elites desire to lie to us and have us refuse to believe what our own eyes are telling us.  Saying it mocks the establishment for trying to lie to us about the obvious.  So for me, “Let’s go Brandon” is not a sexually charged personal insult.  It is admitting that we know the lamestream media tries to lie to us and believes we are stupid enough to fall for it.  So throw your head back and laugh and proudly declare: “Let’s go Brandon!”.  We are not sheeple.  We can see with our own eyes and hear with our own ears.  We do not need to be told what to believe.  We can see and hear and think for ourselves.
