While President Trump says the economy is great, and the coming Chinese trade deal will be great, White House talk of a payroll tax cut lends credence to the media’s recession narrative. Democrats running for president in 2020 would love to neuter the incumbent’s best campaign issue. Could Trump turn the tide by lifting the punitive tariffs against China to boost the economy and bring much-needed relief to U.S. farmers?

First it was “Russia, Russia, Russia”…and then it was “Racist, Racist, Racist”…and now it’s “Recession, Recession, Recession”. Is there an end to their madness?
Go through the dictionary under the letter “R” and see how many bad r-words are left. They will find more. 🙂
Can’t believe you guys got through this without talking about the Fed.
Taxes get cut (including those on the middle class, I know I am squarely in that category) and the economy grows at >3%.
The Fed worries about inflation, so they increase interest rates so that the Economy doesn’t grow TOO fast. That works and the rate of increase of the Economy slows.
The easy answer is for the Fed to cut rates again, or at least announce that they will not increase them anymore this year.
Trump actually brought this up before talking about decreasing payroll taxes. That made sense so it got no coverage.
My very liberal co-worker thinks we’re in a lousy economy right now.
For very liberals, American prosperity is a lousy economy.
Just a FYI. Before the income tax was made constitutional, tariffs were a major source of the income to the US government. So yeah, tariffs do bring in money to the government. So what?
This reminds me of early in Dubya’s presidency how Tom Daschle led the Dems’ talking points that Bush’s tax cuts were causing a recession because he was talking down the economy. SSDD
A recession is two consecutive quarters of negative GDP. That has to happen before you even begin talking about it. We’re not even sniffing at it.
Using facts and reason in your argument? You’re clearly not a member of the media!
He’s a total racist, obviously.
You forgot sexist, homophobic, xenophobic…
