My proposal: The Federalist Party Platform

  1. The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people. – The 10th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. We believe that unlawful, corrupt, and abused power has accumulated at nearly every level of government, and that at every level said power should be released back down to the people.
  2. “Every dollar released from taxation, that is spent or invested, will create a new job and a new salary.” – JFK. We believe that it is a moral imperative to not only remove these laws and regulations, but remove the budgets of the agencies enforcing them, and return to the people their own money. We believe in the ingenuity and responsibility of the American people to do far greater things with their money than our government systems could ever achieve.
  3. “Few men have virtue to withstand the highest bidder.” – George Washington. Like George Washington, we believe in term limits, and we model ourselves after him. No one individual should ever serve in any single position more than 2 terms. Power corrupts, and we believe that there are for more worthy American citizenry than there are electable positions.

Honestly…I could add more, but I think everything else kind of ends up fading in importance to these, and would end up coming out as a result of these items. What do you guys think?

Thanks Ian. I especially like your 3rd point regarding term limits. Have you read Mark Levin’s proposals on Constitutional Amendments regarding term limits in his book “The Liberty Amendments”? Well thought out.

My current thinking on term limits is 12 years, cumulative over one’s political “career.” It keeps experience around but not for too long. You could serve two terms as a senator, three as president, six as a representative, one each of senator, congressman, and president, or any other combination adding up to no more than 12 years.
