Mr. Whittle,
CoronaSphere Lounge Episode #27 April 3oth about 13.33 minutes in : You said that this is not a power grab by the government (s) because no one was arrested. That is a distinction without a difference. By the way, people have been arrested/threatened by and handcuffed by police–the new American Gestapo.) Even a single arrest in this context is one too many.
You said “if this lockdown was not enforced by arrests then it’s a request no matter how they word it and that’s why I tolerated it.” Well –I submit to you that it is a power grab no matter how they word it! This is a massive power grab by any definition. We are being conditioned to accept government overreach. Your characterization of all this as a “request” and your toleration of it is evidence of the conditioning. When they keep promoting the fear and the official narrative about social distancing and the need for lockdowns despite evidence to the contrary—this is a power grab despite the subtlety of the methods.
When you are ordered to close your business, ordered to stay home under threat of some sort of punishment or fine or reprisal from elected officials, when you are spied upon by drones, etc. this in not voluntary no matter what they say and no matter how much you try to convince yourself that you are acting voluntarily. When this started you said on a Bill Whittle Now segment that you would not be reckless and go outside into a crowd except IF THE GOVERNMENT SAID YOU COULDN’T.
Well the government said you couldn’t and you complied. That is your decision to make of course. But I find it inconsistent with your previous positions. Public health was the excuse used to strip people of their rights. “Let’s see how far we can push Americans before they start pushing back.” Fear is a great way to control people and is more subtle than a gun and thus easier to implement. I am 75 years old and am devastated at how easily Americans just rolled over. For the first time in my life I am truly frightened and not of this virus–I refer to the police state tactics and the ease with which Americans have embraced them. We are no longer on the slippery slope–we are at the bottom. The speed with which this has happened is overwhelming! Denial of the reality by insisting it was all voluntary does not alter the reality.
We are the proverbial frog in the pot of water and this is just the beginning. I voted for Trump not Fauci, Birx and their sidekick Bill Gates. They are still using their computer models and ignoring the actual boots on the ground real data. Is Trump not aware of the studies out of Stanford by Dr. John Ioannidis and Dr. Jay Bhattacharya and other physicians and scientists worldwide who have been questioning the conventional wisdom? In Episode 26 of CoronaSphere Lounge you said that strange things are happening but it does not have to be nefarious. Well — start looking for nefarious motives because they are there.
The best legacy I can give my grandchildren and all young people is the lessons learned from my life experience—1. governments lie, 2. never accept the official version of anything and 3.question everything. That is how you stay free.
One reply on “Not a power grab? Really?”
I am 62 and like you I remember a different America. Government is parasitic in nature. Our founding fathers understood this and created the brilliant document we call the constitution with the purpose of restricting and containing government power. Unfortunately, over time our government has found ways to breach the containment. Now we have civil asset forfeiture, Gun Control, government mandates to purchase insurance and on and on. It is disgusting.
But not all of us are content to sit in the boiling pot. These would be despots would be best to remember the history of the people they mean to subjugate least they find themselves attached to a light pole by a rope around their arrogant necks.
