The NY Times interviews Matthew Sheffield, who “built conservative media” and is now working “to help free people from it.” The father of conservative media — talking smack about his children — claims Facebook enables the far right, says right-wingers don’t understand the purpose of journalism, and conservative journalists are much more biased than liberals.
Has “the paper of record” finally found Bizarro Bill Whittle?

That reference to Oswald was great! Another has-been wanna-be…
To quote the immortal Bobby “The Brain” Heenan whenever he heard uttered the name of WWF anchorman Sean Mooney, “Who?”
Well yes, the right wing people that are media people DID finally figure out that those that control info control everything else.
“Personally taught”? 1 on 1 teaching doesn’t give him enough time, and 500 on 1 isn’t really personal.
“Most have no journalism training” … but I do, and that is why I am better than you and you should do as I tell you.
Have NEVER heard of this guy . . . ever.
Matthew Sheffield is an anarchist not a conservative. He was part of what they call paleo-libertarianism. Lew Rockwell and others. I’ve argued with them. Sheffield has always attacked religion and sees that as the key problem with conservatism and paleo-libertarianism. The conservatism he wants is really an atheist variant of libertarian ideas.
I thought he was the dad on “The Nanny”
At last! Someone has actually heard of him!
The Left, in this instance the former newspaper the New York Times*, doesn’t dig up people like this to convince us of anything. They do this to resource the Left with ammunition.
If you turn over enough rocks eventually you’ll find a snake and then you can say “See! There’s a SNAKE!!!” Of course then the argument is that under every rock is a reptile just waiting to bite you.
I never heard of this Matt Sheffield guy. I was a genuine Conservative long, long before anyone ever heard of the Tea Party and I doubt I ever used or paid heed to anything he ever worked on.
I wholly agree with Bob Nelson’s comment on this page. If there’s a Father of Conservative Media it’s Rush Limbaugh. I love Rush’s efforts to get the word out to the nation and the world about Conservative thinking. Rush fully deserved the Medal of Freedom that Donald Trump hung around his neck. I used to listen to him religiously back in the 1990’s — But I haven’t listened to him in years because he rarely says anything now that I don’t already know.
Matthew Sheffield is a poser and a putz who has prostituted himself and he cannot hold a candle to a man like Rush, or Bill Whittle.
(*Channeling Andrew Klavan, of course.)
* You mentioned he who shall not be named
The Great Bald Brain of Literature and Punditry? The one whose last name contains nary an “E”?
๐
Who the hell is this ass-clown? Never heard of him.In my humble opinion, the man responsible for starting the conservative media movement in this country is RUSH LIMBAUGH.
Hear, Hear!
And Bill Scott and Steve of course!
@15:35, Scott almost made Bill do what is known in San Diego radio circles as an ASNR! (pr: as-nur)
That’s an Acute Spontaneous Nasal Reflux, or coffee out the nose!
Rule #1: no beverage is safe, when listening to the show!
Scott had me at “lexdysia.”
Sad desperation of the vapid.
“A tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.”
“On Rumble?” Have we just been given a clue re: an alternate site where we can find our Bill Whittle goodness in the future?
I just checked on Rumble. Bill’s not there yet except as a guest on some Hot Zone episodes. I hope he moves to Rumble soon.
just signed up. You have to search for Channels rather than the default of videos.
Found it! Thanks.
NYT puppet
I just checked. He’s not on Rumble yet, except as a guest on some HotZone episodes. But I hope he moves there soon.
Sorry – I hit the wrong button. This was supposed to be a reply to Roscoe Ellis.
You guys are again Awesome. Thanks!!! Lets move on……
Somebody must be looking for a gig on the new Fox News. Or perhaps just wants some of that sweet Bulwark money. Grifters gotta grift.
He hopes to be the next guy on Mrs. Kristol’s Cabana Boy’s speed dial. Best anniversary present he could give to his wife
So who is this guy?
He is a legend in his own mind. I don’t believe he was originally a conservative. He was and is a damn mindless center muddle with no real principles directing his actions. He simply blows with the wind just as a discarded newspaper is randomly scattered.
That type jumps in front of any group they see as “winning” and claim he is a leader. The truth is he is just one more charlatan pretending to be what he is not and who pretends to switch sides having no real side to begin with. An empty zero. What could be more empty? Nothing at all.
Great description, Lionell. Oh, sorry. I thought you were talking about Democrat politicians. ๐
If he indeed did start a conservative media outlet, it would have been strictly for whatever money he could squeeze out of it, certainly not for anything as trite as “principles”. Not a zero, though – more accurately a negative number.
Yes. His methods suck the life out of anything worth having. However, you cannot be any more dead than dead. Actually living is quite a different matter. That ranges from the walking dead to thriving.
I much prefer to thrive. That takes full freedom and liberty for each and every one of us. To have less, rapidly decays to the walking dead then to actually dead. Always has and always will.
But then that is what he really wants. He doesn’t value life enough to work to achieve it. He becomes a parasite who’s joy is other people’s suffering.
I wonder what is going on? This time, instead of clicking the article title, I clicked “Watch”, and the space bar works.

Help?
Under the contact drop down is a way to fill out a “bug report”. Scott will see those, he may not see a comment. He tries to read them, but he does have another full time job.
You might have to poke Scott with a PM about it. I submitted one of those bug reports and then found out some time later that he hadn’t seen it.
Thanks to both of you. Will do if there’s another one.
It’s a Rumble ‘feature’…
Another non-entity jumping in front of an imaginary crowd pretending to be a leader. He is not even worth ignoring.
“Not even worth ignoring” – why couldn’t I have heard this phrase a few decades ago?!?
My old passive, cynical self would have made this my go to insult back in high school!
