Regarding the grocery stores, I have an option that everyone may not have. My Walmart Neighborhood market supports their Groceries app with outside scheduled pickup. I don’t have to go in the store at all.

This would be a good option, but doesn’t solve the problem of unmasked customers shedding virus on product. I believe that pickup couriers merely do my shopping for me, from the public bin, and then bring it to my car. It would reduce my exposure somewhat. In my dotage such safeguards are more top-of-mind than they would have been a few years back. Thanks for the suggestion, Michael.

Several years ago there was an article highlighting the replacing of ordinary human skills with what they were calling de-skilling. I’ve never forgotten it. You give up an ordinary useful ability or skill and let something or someone do it for you. Then you have de-skilled yourself of that skill. The article contained a warning. Interesting!

Workers in small rural hospitals are being laid off and salaries are being cut for those who remain employed. Bill is correct the curve is extended. I work in health care and think we now need to go back to work. I live in the socialist state of Washington. I happen to live in Eastern Washington. The population density is the main factor.

I do believe that Bill’s final point is correct. People will accept or reject the government-imposed restraints to varying degrees. I am of the camp that this was blown completely out of proportion to the significance of the event. Like Bill, I live in a State (NM) with a leftist governor who has explicitly taken it upon herself to promote her anti-gun agenda by using the State Police to forcibly shutdown all gun stores and shooting ranges. This is a direct violation of the 2nd Amendment, and she is being sued by the NRA as a result. Other governors have obviously violated other Amendments in our Bill of Rights, and it is past time for it to be stopped.

I stand by my previous assertions that if one is afraid of viruses to the point that one would promote the imposition of unconstitutional rules, then one should stay home hiding in one’s closet. To claim that when I stand in a room breathing in and out without a mask is akin to punching you in the face or licking the ice cream in a bucket prior to placing in in the store’s freezer, is an absurd equivocation. Viruses have always been a fact of life, and this one (COVID-19) has never been proven to be more efficacious than the regular flu virus. If you believe otherwise, then produce the data that proves it. I will be happy to assess the analysis and conclusions.

David,
I live in NM as well and YES you are SO right about our gov
I can tell you that as someone who is employed still in a DOT position EVERY day I see Hordes of people who are (as Bill stated) simply ignoring the current idiot in office!

To quote Bruce Willis in the original Die Hard:

Welcome to the party pal!

More civil disobedience is necessary. The so-called “officials” cannot incarcerate all of us.

Anyone who denigrates the protests as a questionable or inappropriate means of declaring a public grievance is actually promoting violence, because that is the only other recourse to restrain these out-of-control leftist tyrants sitting in the governors’ offices throught the Nation.
I have a proposal for these tyrants:

Words or bullets? You choose.

It once was a choice of ballots or bullets to change government but not so much today. Voting does not seem to make much of a change in government. At least not the necessary changes. All we get is more of the same with changes about the almost irrelevant edges. The Trump administration accomplished a little bit more but not nearly enough. Next, try words – lots of them and frequently. If that doesn’t work, as David says: you choose!
