Plant a Tree

All the hype about climate change, etc is a real false narrative, but there is a problem, a real problem.  However I believe the solution is the complete “opposite” of what people think it is.  I’m no scientist, nor expert on the subject, it’s only a theory in my own head.  We need two major things to survive as life on this planet, water and oxygen.   With the population of humans on this planet we are decimating our plant life, especially the ancient trees and especially the rain forests in the Amazon.   I may be completely off base, but I think we are losing our protection from the sun because of our “human arrogance”.  All the efforts being put forth are doing the opposite of what needs to be done.   We NEED to rebuild the forest, especially the amazon rain forest if we want this earth and our life on earth to survive.

I know we have a desire to get back in space again, I so look forward to when we can, but as a species, we aren’t ready yet.

In order to find a time when there were significantly more acres of forest, one would have to go back over 100 years. I would like to see more trees in my area, but I’m not sure the best way to encourage that.

I don’t see how it’s possible for the amazon rainforest to be “the lungs of the planet”. Since the soil is notoriously poor, it seems like any carbon stored in organic matter must be returning to new plants or the atmosphere. To be “lungs” the total mass of plants would then have to be increasing continuously, which seems unlikely over the course of however many 10’s of thousands years it’s existed.

The oceans, via phytoplankton, more likely provide that function since their calcium carbonates and organic matter wind up at the bottom of the ocean. Pending geological processes anyway.

Would you prefer the lungs be in NW United States instead? That’s where the NW rain forest exists. Think about it a bit. Where is the Equator? Where is the NW United States and likely Canada? Do you want them to switch?

You say that “climate change” is a false narrative yet you fall for it hook, line, and sinker.

See: The CO2 Greening of the Planet Earth.

The truth is, we were well on the way to starving plant life of CO2 until we started adding significant amounts of CO2 to the atmosphere. When plant life goes, all animals who eat plants and who eat animals who eat plants will starve. That is the real apocalyptic crises. Not the burning of fossil fuels and using its energy to build a civilization in which humans can thrive.
