I don’t have a clue how video advertising works. But the one thing that really bothers me is the time proportionality. I just endured a 30 sec. ad to see an 18 sec. news video on Fox. Please enlighten me.

Standard length ads added to any and every video, regardless of video length by an uncaring and impersonal system would be my guess.
If it doesn’t make sense, it was probably a one size fits all solution created by a mindless drone of a bureaucrat.

uBlock Origin on Firefox works on Youtube for me. Or Ghostery. I have both, but I think uBlock was working before I added Gh.
Either way, I second your motion for ad blockers.
It doesn’t matter what we do, or where we get our information from, there’s no escaping commercials. We immediately mute them when they appear, old even fast forward through them on something we’ve DVR’ed, but they drive me crazy, especially the ones for prescription drugs.
Non-prescription drug ads are the worst — especially extenz.
