It’s difficult to not notice that a black police officer purposefully shoots and kills a white woman in the Capitol and nothing happens to him, but a white female police officer accidentally shoots a black perpetrator escaping arrest gets convicted.
Justice has not been served in the shooting death of Daunte Wright as former Brooklyn Center police officer Kim Potter has been found guilty of 1st Degree Manslaughter. According to RedState:
Former Brooklyn Center Police Department officer Kim Potter was found guilty of both first and second-degree manslaughter by a Minnesota jury Thursday in the death of Daunte Wright.
Wright was killed on April 11, 2021, during a traffic stop when Potter mistook her Taser for her service weapon. Potter immediately resigned, and manslaughter charges were filed against her.

Under Minnesota law, Second Degree Manslaughter is defined as follows:
A person who causes the death of another by any of the following means is guilty of manslaughter in the second degree and may be sentenced to imprisonment for not more than ten years or to payment of a fine of not more than $20,000, or both:
(1) by the person’s culpable negligence whereby the person creates an unreasonable risk, and consciously takes chances of causing death or great bodily harm to another.
As a general matter, Potter could be convicted of the charge each of the following was proven by evidence beyond a reasonable doubt:
- Her conduct in withdrawing her service weapon was “culpably negligent”.
- That negligence created an unreasonable risk, and
- In doing so she consciously took the chance of causing death or great bodily harm.
Potter will not serve time on both sentences, and legal experts believe her sentence will be on the lesser end of the range due to Potter’s lack of prior criminal record and mitigating circumstances.
Daunte Wright was resisting arrest and attempting to drive away in his vehicle in a way that could have harmed Potter’s partner. All evidence, including her own testimony, indicates it was an accident that she used her firearm instead of a taser. Meanwhile, Ashli Babbitt was not resisting arrest and was intentionally shot and killed by Michael Byrd. It took months before Byrd’s name was even released and he has never been charged.
This is not justice.

I’m very much of of the same mind as ACTS (TM) on this. The accidental nature of the shooting makes it hard to get behind Potter. It’s important not to fall into the mindset of judging any and all incidents according to the status and ethnicity of the people involved. Easier to say than do when the media and establishment seem to be doing just that.

I’m of two minds on this.
I don’t think this officer needs to go to jail. But …
I have a hard time feeling sorry for anyone who intends to use a taser and shoots someone too. That’s sheer negligence and incompetence. A sidearm and a taser are very hard to confuse with each other and that’s intentional.
She should have just kept her mouth shut about that.
Lethal force, which I’m very specifically and highly trained in the use of, is a serious business. If you’re going to shoot someone you’d better be right and righteous when you do.
I’ve never killed anyone by accident, I’ve never killed anyone who didn’t deserve it. I cannot say that is the case for this officer.
Don’t blow this off, killing a human being is no joke. Even if the human being is a POS that deserves it, that human being also deserves to die intentionally and not by accident. Especially not by the negligence of someone acting under color of the law.
She should have just shot him and been done with it. He was a fleeing felon, she would have been legal to use lethal force to stop him.
That said, the Michael Byrd shoot of Ashli Babbitt was about as dirty a shoot as it gets. Babbitt was unarmed and presenting no lethal or grave bodily injury threat. Ashli Babbitt was a dirty shoot and Byrd should lose his badge at the very least and a jail sentence would be more appropriate.
They have certainly covered up the Ashli Babbit shooting along with other details and misdeeds committed that day.
Little by little, more is being revealed about J6.
