Rage of Icons: Words Fail, Flags and Statues Fall in Wake of George Floyd’s Death

In the wake of George Floyd’s death, protestors find that where words fail, free expression comes as statues of Confederate leaders fall, and their old battle flag comes down. Images and icons have become the medium of rage, and public debate. Can Conservatives connect with a generation nursed on pictures, not words?

The current need of some people to destroy our past reminds me of when China did all that it could to destroy its past during its cultural revolution in the late 1960’s through 1970’s.
If we are doomed to repeat our past if we cannot remember it, what happens if we destroy our past?

This was a great segment.
My view is that the Democrats have opened pandora’s box and they think that they can control it. I think they are mistaken.

Soros-funded BLM “liberation theology” has no intention stopping after gaining equality. Their mission is complete and total role reversal against the “white devils”. These people are delusional. Race is just a hijacked word used by wicked, evil people to divide the masses. Have you not read, Eve “was the mother of all living?” That means all this violence is brother against brother, sister against sister. They are killing their relatives!

The word that best describes the Taliban’s scientific acumen is “misarchanthropeology”.

They are sociopathic misanthropes applied to archaeology. It is the science of searching out ancient artifacts and destroying them.

True story alert:
Several years back my brother and I met in DC to have a weekend together. Of course we took a long walk around some of the monuments, including the Lincoln Memorial. We both read every word. When we finally moved on he commented to me that he was dumb-founded that so many people spent so little time in the memorial. It was like they were checking off a box.
As we walked away, there were two young men walking towards us. One of them was smoking. Literally two feet from a receptacle designed for cigarette removal, he tossed his cigarette on the ground – and I lost my mind.
I hollered at this stranger and told him there was a butt trash container right there, throw the damn thing away. I guess I had a NY’er moment. To my amazement, he picked it up and tossed it in the can.
I say this not to take credit, but to point out that Bill is correct. They will be oblivious to want the monument means. They just want to destroy. If someone can toss a butt on the ground when almost no additional effort gets rid of it properly; they will certainly deface anything when their “righteous” anger is inflamed.

That wasn’t the distinction, Bill. The distinction was that the statues of Saddam and the swastikas weren’t history — they were current events.

Exactly. The people destroying those symbols had faught against and defeated the evil regimes they represented. This a point we mustn’t allow the left to have.

Excuse me, Bill. Did I hear you correctly? Did you say that the reasonable assumption that everything the left does, is designed to destroy this country, is NOT true? Sorry, but I must disagree. As Dennis Prager has long been saying, everything the left touches, it destroys. Now he does make a distinction between Liberals and Leftists.

Look and the consequence of the implementation of their ideas in both the past and the present. Poverty, despair, destruction, and death is the 100% consequence. If you destroy the past and distort the present, you become surprised that what they say, what they do, and what they cause are three different things and that the ONLY outcome is destruction!

I think what Bill meant was that not everything was done with the intention to destroy the country, but probably agrees with Dennis that intentions aside, that is the result.
If that wasn’t what he meant, I would suspect it is along the lines of a blind squirrel and stopped clock.. occasionally they do something good whether they’re trying to or not and we have to be open the opportunity to praise them for the good things .

Bill, you nailed it! I have been telling my fellow conservatives for a long time that our failure is using facts and data to wage a war of emotion. You are EXACTLY right

I forgot where I read it, but I stopped being disturbed by my inability to get any of me Lefty pals on social media to concede any point, no matter how obvious and incontovertible the facts were, when it all made sense when I saw these words: “You can’t reason someobody out of a position they didn’t reason themselves into”

Scott, Starbucks does have a policy of no political emblems or displays by employees, but……… They have bent the knee to Black Lives Matter recently. Not only are they going to allow BLM slogans and displays, they are going to actually manufacture and produce Starbucks branded Black Lives Matter apparel for their employees to use. I have a son that works at Starbucks
