Just joined this site today. Like many, perhaps I had planned to join earlier but last week was simply the push/shove I needed to realize that no one is coming to save the USA except the citizens who realize the absurdity of what’s been going on for far too long and those who support the Constitution. And we need to start local.
About 3 weeks ago I had what I refer to as a “Braveheart” moment when I decided on my front porch that I needed to get more involved with my local government if I wanted things to change for the better. Many of our friends have moved away from the Puget Sound Area for saner pastures, but I realized that I will not move away from the town I love until I’m ready to. I’m making a stand. And unless this crazy thinking is extinguished, it will continue to spread.
And no, I never did visit CHAZ in Seattle to get my passport stamped. A friend did go and engage some of those inhabiting the area, but she left disappointed when one of the speaker instructed all the white people to move and give their spots to people of color. Sigh.
Unfortunately the crazy thought has already breached our town borders. Currently our Mayor is not supporting a great candidate for Chief of Police because he’s not the right color. The candidate he did present to Council which they hastily voted in despite knowing the man had issues in his past that immediately disqualified him for the position.
So, our town of 43,000 is making all kinds of news about what should have been a simple process – https://nationalpolice.org/did-a-mayor-deny-police-chief-appointment-based-on-race/
Those beating the drum about social justice and housing for all are already in our town with a wall of four Councilmembers who are determined to remake our small town into a Seattle mini-clone. The next wave we will experience is a Citizen’s Housing Commission that wants to change single family zoning areas to accommodate multifamily units, restrict landlords unjustly and increase density unnecessarily.
We also have a state government that is all one party. Wished our Governor had been tapped to go to DC, but no such good fortune.
For me, living close enough to Seattle to see crazy is a great motivator. I would appreciate any advice by anyone who has dealt with or is dealing with the social justice/housing for all/if you want to live here you should be able to mentality. How to fight a city council with a majority of radicals and a Mayor deaf to the majority of the residents?
The good news is I am finding individuals willing to get involved with spreading the truth and getting into the fight with courage and discipline.
Glad to be here…
