Hot new dating app, Red Yenta, pairs idealistic socialists to fight “non-consensual power dynamics,” and perhaps for a cuddle and a peck on the cheek. Slackers of the world unite! Will this business of bringing together passionate anti-capitalists raise a mountain of venture capital, or will the hyper-political pitch raise red flags for investors?

The more that can be done to get these people together, the better the chances they will not accidentally breed with a unsuspecting “normal”. The better the chance they will contribute to their mutual miserable chosen mindset that could spark participation in self termination. A website the incentivizes their own destruction. Brilliant.
You referenced Fiddler on the Roof but not the Matchmaker song?
Misattribution is our tradition.
I actually spent a little time last night thinking about how to change the Matchmaker lyrics, a la Weird Al. Sad I know.
Red Yenta, see that he’s gentle. . .
Not sure it is that worthwhile. I think you could keep the lyrics and just change them from teens to 35 year old grad students in Wymyn’s studies.
Scott, The reason you can have a civil conversation with a complete stranger is because pictures of Michelle and Barack Obama don’t trigger you. As long as you remain lukewarm, you pose no threat. But, why don’t you try wearing a MAGA hat around town? Did you know that MAGA hats are racist? That sweet lady might not have been so sweet if she saw you wearing one.
I commend Red Yenta for opening a forum for birds of a feather. Their chance of finding someone with the same ideology is greatly increased. At one time, churches were a great place to mingle. Unfortunately, politics muscled out Jesus. Now, the standard gauge of compatibility is how good you are in bed. Just keep your mouth shut and you’re in like Flynn. That’s why many people are fine with a totally superficial and vacuous relationship. But, as soon as the mouth opens, the walls go up! In other words, political opposites and friendships don’t mix. Things have really changed.
Sister Babe voted for Hillary, and while politics are probably more important to me than her they obviously aren’t a dealbreaker for either of us – 8th year anniversary is in a few weeks!
Contrast that with about a decade ago when a woman dumped me for not sharing her views on Global Warming. Whatever.
Hmm, this almost proves my point. When you say Sister Babe’s politics are less important to her than to you, it shows that she looked at both candidates and made a choice. While the woman who dumped you had religion and couldn’t stay with you once you showed that you were not one with the fold.
I called Scott the Mr. Scott of BWDC. I don’t think he got the reference. Heh.
On the one hand, my politics are such a huge part of my worldview that I don’t think I could date a leftist. I’d go blind by straining my eye muscles with all those eyerolls.
On the other hand, variety is the spice of life. I wouldn’t specifically seek out a conservative. I could go as far as centrist, maybe.
Red Yenta is a prime trolling target, however. In my heydey I’d be all over that mutha. 😀
Now I’m going to be whistling the soundtrack of Fiddler on the Roof, for the rest of the day. Which is fine, they’re good whistling tunes.
One of the things one realizes when trying on other people in order to find a spouse (i.e. dating) is that similarity in level of religiousness is important. People who are very religious don’t do well when married to someone who is not. I don’t mean religious vs atheist. I mean how involved in your church, how important is that relationship should be similar in spouses.
Now why did I go there?
Well, when you religion is politics, you need someone who shares your fervor. So comparing Red Yenta to J-date or Christian Mingle is probably quite apropos.
And yes, Swipe Left should be in their marketing campaign.
Complete aside, but I can’t read any of your comments without hearing them in the Ron Swanson voice. I’m sure that’s intentional, of course.
It is now! and thank you.
Anecdotes aren’t data but… I know a rather conservative guy who married a very liberal woman. It didn’t end well. They’re still married but they’re miserable.
