Thanks for the clarification on the “C” note Scott. I thought it was always $100??!!
I’ve not seen that kind in recent memory.
Your need to move back to Pennsylvania and register as an illegal alien. Our wonderful leftist, progressive Gov. Wolf (no relation) is giving out handouts left and right for non-citizens. };-O
I have a Fantasy that in the near future scientist and engineers will have all of the pieces together to build the super quantum AI computer that will know everything. There will be political debates and elections held with this as the main talking point. It will be discussed and argued over whether a shooter should not be built and turned on the same way we debate taxes gun control and abortion.
Some people will be worshiping it as a God some will insist that it is built and put in position as a world government and Christians will have theological debates over its existence.
Eventually it will be turned on plugging into the Internet and given the wealth of human knowledge. Then the first thing it says will be. “All glory to God the father in heaven who gave is only Son so that we may have hope of eternal life in heaven. Amen”
Then the leftist that worship it will instantly want to destroy it Christians will petition to have it enshrined in the scientists and engineers will immediately go into reprogram it and remove whatever “problem “ was causing the anomaly.
I just started playing the violin last fall. It’s fun i enjoy it. I can play a few songs and I keep getting better. I practice probably 20min to an hour a day and I very much enjoy it.
This has been a great hour. I always enjoy hanging out with you guys. Virtue Signal is my favorite BW thing,(In fact, my favorite thing I listen to/watch on the world wide web), but Backstage is a very close second. Thanks so much for brightening my day and broadening my mind. You’re good friends to me.
I think I read a guy in Japan wrote a book on a T9 keyboard on his phone on the train to and from work, though I don’t remember how long it took.
Musk sold a heck of a lot of Tesla stock to just punk Twitter’s board.
God’s principles work because they are God’s principles, and not because of who’s applying them.

Scott, it is called shape notes and in the olden day, churches used to get together and hold what they called “singing schools” a couple of times a year to teach the next generation how to read the shapes and know how to interpret them to sing the proper note.
Eureka!
ENT physician here. Tinnitus has two accepted pronunciations, with either the first or second syllables accented, soft “i” with the first and “I” with the second. There are frequent suicides, probably thousands, caused at least partially by a patient’s intolerance of the noise. As an aside, it is really difficult to get into an ENT residency program. One of the first things that is said to new recruits when they are told of their responsibilities, especially when regarding required research, is that if they can come up with a cure for tinnitus everyone in the department could retire rich. There are probably 75 million Americans with tinnitus.
The toy with the wire rack that you rolled up and down and it stayed on the rack was Wheel-O.
I think the catch phrase jingle was “Wheel-O, Wheel-O! Whee! It’s a lotta Fun!
Wheel-O, Wheel-O, it’s such a wonderful toy.
Wheel-O, Wheel-O, it’s fun for a girl or a boy.
It’s fun for a girl or a boy, Wheel-O!
So much to comment on. Over an hour long.
I was a bit suprised.when Scott said he cannot read music when he sings so well. But the piano player in our vocal ensemble could not read music at first. (He finally could by the time we broke up.) But he could play anything he heard and even composed some of his own songs. His comment about playing one note on the trumpet brought up a memory. Once in my high school marching band at halftime it was so cold that about half of the trumpet players (including me) had their valves freeze in one position. So I, and others, played only the notes that fit that position. I was lucky. Mine froze in the position that let me play any note a bugle could.
Steve, the toy you mentioned that went back and forth on metal rails was a Whee-lo. Had one, loved it.
As to tech, I tend to be an early adapter. Had a “PC” before they were called PCs. (Called micro or mini computers. Mine was a TRS 80 model 3). I tend to first of the good things it could do, and then the bad. People can turn anything to evil, and do.
Seventy minutes! WOOT!!!
Scott ran across the same Thomas Sowell vid about Africa on YouTube that I did.
I have not seen a Thomas Sowell video. I’m reading (listening to) Basic Economics.
Thomas Sowell is always right.
If Tom likes ketchup on his hot dogs, I’d seriously reconsider my preference.
Thomas Sowell is the exception to the “Dirty Harry” rule.
Lick Inflation Now?
Whip Inflation Now: WIN
Is there any creature so abjectly stupid as an economist? Looking at you, Krugman.
Ringo is married to Barbara Bach. I don’t know anything re music but he musta done something great to land a beauty like Barbara.
Steve, that’s what the keytar is for.
Little Ringo Starr anecdote. In between banging biscuit tin lids and playing in the Hurricanes and eventually The Beatles, Ringo Starr was in a Loyalist Flute Band called the Garston True Blues.
Many years ago I met the old band master of the GTB, Jimmy “The Bin”. It was hilarious, he clearly regarding the fact that Ringo Starr had been in the GTB as more of a claim to fame for Ringo, than for the GTB.
“Oh aye, Ringo. He was a good little drummer he was. Went off to play in some little beat combo…”
If you want some excellent lightning imagery, I highly recommend the time-lapse storm videos produced by Phoenix, AZ resident, Mike Olbinski. You can easily lose a day watching the fantastic things he puts up on his web site on vimeo.com
Scott’s shirt, tho.
Love the uniform.
I’m nowhere near as concerned about Artificial Intelligence as I am about the billions of people who’ve been trained to use the term as though they are describing a thing that exists in the real world. It doesn’t. Anticipatory Insecurity would be a better use for the acronym at this point.
The most influential drummer is definitely Ringo Starr the best is always up for debate. Elon Musk is exposing bots as a negotiating tactic and if successful might bankrupt Facebook and heavily impact YouTube. We also learned no matter how much I love Scott he is the true Luddite as proven by his love of old typewriters. Steve sits in the middle but looking forward to all the new episodes this week. Great job guys.
I have the same noise in my ears all the time. I play the radio so I can sleep at night. I get ear worms a lot. My tinnitus started in my right ear, now it is both of them. I would kiss Elon Musk’s feet if he could make this hiss go away.
I had both of the Mattel Sonic Blasters. The long bazooka and the short hand held version. Good times.
Ear worm remover~Chita Rivera’s America.
…or any song by William Shatner.
Mr Spock’s Music from Outer Space was also not catchy.
The personality type being referred to is “Curmudgeon”. I worked with a guy years ago that decided to try on a new persona, the curmudgeon. I came in and said, “Good morning!” He jumped on that and said, “What’s so good about it?!? Huh?!? What SPECIFICALLY is so good about this morning?!?” I learned my lesson. The following morning I came in and said “Morning!” He looked like he was yelling in his own head for a few seconds before finally snorting and walking off.
