Right Angle: Backstage (10-26-2021)

The men of Right Angle convene in high dudgeon, or high anxiety, or some kind of elevated state, to discuss this week’s episodes. If you’re a Member, salute yourself for contributing to the massive societal benefits that shall ensue.

The movie I likes best as a space comedy was “Space Cowboys.” It actually had a serious premise, but wound up being a very good subtle comedy.

Modern movie/cartoon that I absolutely despised for its unreality: WALL-E.
I work in a steel mill where most of the steel we make is recycled from scrap. The scene where the planet is littered with rusty metal cars and cans really pissed me off since in order to get that to happen, we would have to _forget_ how to recycle steel.
Of course the environmentalist, never farmed or worked a real blue-collar job a day in their life, “BEAT YOU OVER THE HEAD” theme of the movie also didn’t help.

Guys,

You really needed the intro to the old “Outer Limits” before this backstage show. Okay, I like Pop Tarts too but empty boxes filling a drawer and how much to break off if a rat eats part of it?

I kept waiting for the Control Voice to start telling me not to adjust my picture, we are in control of everything you see and hear.

I’ve never eaten a Pop Tart. In fact, I only go down the cereal aisle is because that’s where the coffee is. But I do make a killer cranberry-pistachio biscotti.

The discussion regarding ‘quad’ speakers brought back a memory from over half a century ago. I stayed in the dormitory for the engineering school my first year in college. This was a 6-story building with 4 wings. As we were all engineering geeks, we came with a collection of various pieces of electronic gear. One guy had a kick-ass amplifier and humongous speakers, and another guy had a signal generator. We hooked the gear together in a room on the 6th floor, and by playing with the signal generator, we were able to find the resonate frequency of our wing of the building. We got reports that people as far as 4 or 5 floors below us were hearing a strange noise. It seemed to be coming from the building itself (which it was). Anyway it was heard by almost everybody in the wing and nobody could figure out what it was or where it was coming from. Memories of good times…

If that Pop Tart lawsuit is allowed to proceed, some judge needs to go. We have mandated content labels on food products for decades. This is the definition of Frivolous Lawsuit. If I was that company I would spend 10 Million to defend it vigorously.
That said, the cynical part of me wonders if this isn’t an ad agency’s idea and meant to boost brand recognition.

THere’s a whole lotta people being held w/o bail in solitary in DC because they took an unsupervised tour of the Capitol. That tells me, yeah, they do have power over us.

That was a lot of fun.

The only mar was the few times you talked over each other, but that’s just the nature of a couple seconds of time delay.

One of these days they will turn the recordings on when they really start and we’ll get 1 1/2 hours seeing the sausage getting made. OK, bad analogy, but I want that first 30 minutes, too.

In addition to all the other horrors of the Fauci dog experiment, the Beagles were chosen because they are a more docile breed and wouldn’t fight as hard as Rottweilers or Pit Bulls for example.

Wasn’t that the tag included when Calvin (of Calvin and Hobbes) got his propeller beanie?

So first the path down memory lane discussing favorite candies then it is sweetened with pop tarts spiced up with education issues then brought home with history and the Great Man Theory proving all of your grasps on pop culture. Looking forward to a great week of episodes.
