great episode fellas… bittersweet memories of readers digest, comic books and sea monkeys that never quite made it… among other gems…
I will definitely check out the Jetson…

Ah….memories. All the talk about Estes model rockets, coke/mentos bombs, Polaris subs, Sea Monkeys, and reading ‘Boys Life‘ reminds me of my favorite “science-based” stories from my teens, “The Mad Scientist’s Club“. The stories were written by Bertrand Brinley and published in ‘Boys Life’ during the 1960’s. They were later published as story collections and were carried in the school library. Fun reads that triggered a lifelong fascination with science and technology and helped a teenage boy find his inner nerd.

I learned this trick from Anna Maria Albergetti when she appeared on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. Hold your fists side-by-side with knuckles up. Beginning with the first knuckle on your left, count the months on each knuckle and the spaces between. All months occurring on knuckles have 31 days. All others do not

That is how I teach it. My uncle showed me that many years ago and I cannot remember the poem for anything.

Complete non sequitur here, but.
Bill, your hair looks amazing today! The Devil-may-care slight tousling, the right temple part; point on great look for you!

I like that look, too – groomed but relaxed. I was shocked the first time I heard Bill complain about his hair – IMO it’s one of his best features, and no one sports a beard as nice as Scott’s. Steve’s hair has plenty going for it, too. Ok, now. Between the two of us, those 3 are gonna have swelled heads for a little while.

Re: A nonpolitical video made by BillWhittle.com and posted here on the site. One member’s perspective.

I love that kind of thing. I like hearing what you guys think of those kinds of things. Some of my favorite shows have been the ones where you discuss (and we get to follow up in the comments) things like Space-X, Blue Origin, and various other modern topics.

I know you guys comb various media sources looking for something, anything to create content over so you can provide us with your scheduled productions. I also know that sometimes there’s not a lot out there on a given week. Please, please do not feel like you absolutely must stick to purely political topics.

Many of us like the same things you do, have the same interests you do, and would like to hear any news that’s interesting whether it’s political or not. There are aerospace engineers, IT geeks, military both active and veterans and a lot of really smart ladies that subscribe here.

You posting a video about a not particularly political topic is fine. It’s a welcome break and it’s fun. Let’s not forget to have some fun in life.

Of course we want to hear your political views, you resource us with points of view and arguments and that’s important. But it’s not all there is to life.

By all means, when you find something neat, cool, new, interesting or just funny — Make a video about it.

Before they went with an even more generic label for their private label products, whenever I’d go up to DE or PA for teh weekend I’d always do a bunch of shopping at Acme supermarket for anything I regularly use – Acme ceral, Acme peanuts, etc. It looked like my kitchen was Wiley Coyote’s pantry

I actually know people who work in an intelligence “shop” not far from where I live. They’re friends of mine. They have several TV’s going every minute of work time because sometimes news breaks somewhere in the world that hasn’t hit the official pipeline yet. They have CNN on one of those TV’s every day …

For laughs. It’s like having a TV playing nothing but Warner Brother’s Looney Tunes except that if the boss or visiting brass looks in they don’t get in trouble.

No one I know, even people whose profession is to be in the know, uses CNN for information. That dog don’t hunt anymore.

Father Bob and I built a mess of 1/48th model planes during my tween years, hanging them up in the basement & garage. One half of teh basement was the WWII European theater, while the back near the furnace & laundry was the Pacific theather. The garage had everything post WWII, and at its height we had 64 planes in the air. The house & folks are now gone, and over the years most went away. The remaining ten or so proudly hang in my toolshed

Little Bob got a nerf gatling gun not too long ago. The first thing I made him do after we got it set up was to put on my hat and taped a band aid on his arm & got a pic of him looking like Jesse Ventura in Predator.
He ain’t got time to bleed

Just a note, there is a reason compressed gas tanks are firmly attached to the wall. If they fall over and the valve breaks off you have a missile that will go through any wall and possibly many walls destroying everything in its path. Doesn’t matter what the gas is!

These look fun. I admit to binge watching the episodes last week. But missed out on a lot of interaction here at the site since I was done watching. Schedule them at once, but please space them out for release. We cannot be trusted to be adults all of the time. the proof is that I suspect a large percentage of us have a space blaster similar to Bill’s or some other incredibly juvenile toy that we think is really cool.

Second the motion on scheduled releases. I binge-ed then jones-ed the rest of the week, dropping in to see if a new video had gone up. I have no self-control or discipline in this area.

I have juvenile toys too … But they’re mostly the adult version of what I played with as a kid. They’re all either sharp or deadly, or both sharp and deadly. Or loud and deadly. A real sword, battleaxe and knife collection. A miniature black powder cannon that shoots real 45 cal. lead balls. A pistol crossbow that I put a red dot sight on after I juiced up the prod a bunch and made cute little broadheads for the bolts … and of course all the kinds of things I played with in their plastic versions as a kid and got to handle in their steel versions when I enlisted.

Etc. Nothing illegal and nothing dangerous as long as you know how to handle it.

I lived in the country and I was a weird kid.

I have to keep a close eye on my grandkids when they visit too. They like my “toys” as much as I do.

As in “Put that back on the wall right now and stop playing with it! Your mom is going to kill me if I send you back home missing significant parts of your anatomy!”

Grampa is weird but has some really cool stuff. It’s a good thing my grandkids are very well behaved and (most generally) do what they’re told too.

The lack of “compliance” is advertised to be so low not only because of Common Core counting techniques, but it is also due to the fact that many federally-funded institutions, like this one, fired those who refused to be submissive serfs. It’s easy to have 100% “compliance” when none of those undesirables are employed.

Dear Santa,
I suppose you’re wondering why you haven’t heard from me in 45 years. Well, you see there’s a great reason for that. I’ve been spending every waking hour of that entire time being really really good. My room is spotless, my chores are always done, I’ve been helping those on need, I’ve been honest and forthright, giving to charity, helping little old ladies cross the street. The list of goodness just goes on and on and on.
So anyways there’s this thing called The Jetson . . . .

The trip down memory lane actually coincides with your topics especially Bill’s topic of the Jetson vehicle and the future we were promised and how it is coming true.

Scott- Reader’s Digest – Laughter is the Best Medicine – also available in book form. I helped an elderly friend buy a set once.

My brother was also in a model rocketry club in high school I think, part of a tech class.

So, regarding co-workers, ignorance really is bliss?

Groundhog? or do you mean chipmunk or ground squirrel?

in touch with his brother’s top aide” – Scott

Bill remembers the days of “our job to comfort the afflicted and afflicted the comfortable”
