The purpose of the census, as democrats express it, has morphed it from apportioning representation to apportioning tax dollars from other citizens.
Let’s get back to the Constitution’s promise of representation. Only citizens should care about the census.
Obeying the basic rules of society are beneficial to republicans.
It actually has been in the long form census and the like.
A simple change in the voting law could settle almost all the problems we have about illegal immigration and the lawless government.
Since it is a common belief that money buys elections, lets go for it without reservation. On buck one vote, vote early and often. Then run the government off the take. No taxes of any kind. Just a paid for vote. That way if you want a policy YOU PAY FOR IT rather than push the cost onto the productive few. If you don’t pay for it, you don’t get it and are not burdened by it.
“But…but…I want free stuff. If I have to pay for it, it isn’t free.”
That is exactly the idea. There is no such thing as a free lunch. Forcing someone else to pay involuntarily for your free lunch is theft and in a civilized society would not be permitted. Our society is not quite a civilized society. Our government violates more individual rights than all of the criminals in all of our history. It is therefor a very crippled predatory society.
“But…but…what about all those poor people who cannot pay?”
If you want to help them with the product of your life, I won’t stop you. If you expect to reach into my pocket to help them, I will do my best to cut off your hand. If there is someone I wish to help, it is MY choice and My choice alone.
I suspect a lot of so called political problems would vanish. I don’t expect such a thing to happen in my life time but it would be oh so nice if it did.
