In the waning days of 2016, I saw a Social Media post from a friend, challenging those who voted for Donald Trump to defend their choice. For me, my vote for Trump was largely a Damage Control decision. I knew that either he, or Hillary Clinton was going to be President of the United States, and I figured that he would do less damage. Plus, the thought of that corrupt, authoritarian Harridan in the oval office gave me the screaming heebie-jeebies, so I voted Trump.
He did better than I expected. He kickstarted the economy, brought unemployment to historic lows, renegotiated some bad trade deals, and essentially kept his campaign promises, all while being the most embattled President in American history. It’s mind blowing. Every hand has been against him. Trump has stood alone, and not only persevered, but triumphed. And through it all, he’s kept his good cheer. Pretty damned impressive…This guy may have actually earned my vote.
Then came Covid 19. Should we have shut down? Probably not, but the Fear-Mongers waved the possibility of millions of deaths in our faces, and we (President Trump included) caved. Self quarantine. Flatten the Curve. Wear a mask. We voluntarily shuttered a FOUR TRILLION DOLLAR ECONOMY, BECAUSE THE “EXPERTS” TOLD US TO! I’ve said before, and I’ll say it again: When did Americans become so timid?
As if Coronavirus wasn’t enough, we get the tragic and completely avoidable death of George Floyd. Since then, there have been FOUR MONTHS of unremitting violence. Seattle. Portland. Minneapolis. Chicago. Kenosha. The list goes on. If this were a truly Organic movement, it would have burned itself out by now. FOUR MONTHS of NONSTOP Looting and Rioting?! I have NEVER been happier to be a Gun Owner and NRA Member. Bring it, Anarchists. I may go down, but I’ll go down fighting.
My friends, we are at a crossroads. Who do we want to be? Are we a Republic, warts and all, or are we a democracy, subject to the will of the Mob (or more likely the Politburo who purports to represent them)? I almost ate to say it; it’s either Trump or the Communist States of America. Choose your poison.

I voted for Mr. Trump because I was sick of seeing so-called “Conservative Republican” politicians/candidates cave to ‘political expedience’ instead of standing up to the principles that they kept telling us that they stood firm upon. Because of the attitude of go-along-to-get-along.
Trump was a political outsider, and rich enough to not be bought. Or bought off.
Yeah, he was crass and rude. At that point, it was part of his appeal.
The career politicians were all unfailingly smooth and polished. Using beautiful language to tell us nothing, while selling us out.
Trump told it like he saw it. And he saw a vision of America rising, like we did in the 50’s and 60’s. I wanted to believe again!
I wanted to believe in the America of Mark Twain, Will Rogers and JFK. Reaching up, striving and achieving great things. We could have had it, too. Think of how far we could have climbed if the ‘Swamp’ hadn’t stymied Trump at every turn. Making up lies, and road-blocking his every move.
And, yes, he makes mistakes. He didn’t handle the COVID crisis perfectly. He did, however, handle it better than any of the opposition would have, by shutting down travel from China when he did. As for the rest. :-\
Hindsight is 20/20. He listened to the experts he had. They were wrong on how best to proceed, but somehow he gets all the blame for that. The Buck Stops…
There is some indication that the shutdown was guided by the hidden fascist faction in society today. They have certainly been quick to turn an advantage on other recent events.
And, yes -I know that sounds like a conspiracy theory. But look at the rioting taking place around the country right now. These people are not protesting a couple of felons dying at the hands of police. This is a terror campaign against citizens. Pogrom, krisstalnacht, what ever you want to call it. There is ever increasing evidence that these actors are being coached and directed. From organized supply chains to suspicious similarity and sophistication of armament (professional level fireworks as mortars?!). Someone is pulling strings.
Anyone who thinks this will go away soon, or that it won’t get worse after Trump wins re-election (assuming that the Democrats don’t try to litigate the outcome into the next century) needs to check their head, and keep their ammo dry.

I’d call “the tragic … death” avoidable. I agree with your last paragraph. Did you see Rand Paul’s comment this morning after having been surrounded by rioters last night? “Somethings going on here and it’s much bigger than people think.”
I saw Rand Paul’s interview about being swarmed by a mob and he did make me think. I’m not one for conspiracy theories because some of the capacities I’ve worked in have taught me that people just can’t keep their mouths shut and someone will always spill the beans sometime, somewhere. Which blows a conspiracy apart. But …
There is such a think as a criminal conspiracy, people are prosecuted successfully for that all the time. I hope Rand Paul and others follow up on the things he said and get hot on tracing the current, seemingly organized violence to it’s roots. Then pulling up those roots and tossing them in jail.
Floyd was NOT killed by police action. He had a fatal dose of Fentanyl in his blood and thus was a walking dead man. He couldn’t breath BECAUSE of the Fentanyl overdose and not because of the police action working to subdue him. He was not strangled. Not even close. He died by his own hand!
However, this is merely the facts of the situation. Facts are irrelevant to the demented left of left. It is their way or the highway and they will use any means to achieve it. Their goal is total destruction of anything that exists! Violence supported by the MSM and the left of left politicians is simply the current means in use.
