I work w/ a woman like that. Invariably any decision presented to her will turn into a 30+ min conversation where she goes on and on about the question at hand. Usually not reaching a conclusion.
By contrast, when it’s just us boys…
boss: We need to do A or B. Which one?
other guy: A’s cheeper but B is better quality
third guy: Should probably go w/ B then.
me: Let me be devil’s advocate.
boss: So B then?
everyone else: Sure, sounds good.
8/8 stands for Howard Hughs! It’s right there in “The Art of the Deal”.
WAKE UP, SHEEPLE!
Read Massy’s “Catherine the Great”, IIRC, he spent maybe a half chapter, of a 1000 something page novel about Catherine, on Potemkin Villages. Though the towns were real, Potemkin did travel ahead of Cathy’s yacht making sure the towns had a fresh coat of paint, the villagers were dressed in their Sunday best and standing on the riversides and all the riff-raff were driven inland.
I love listening to your Stratosphere Lounge. FYI: ‘Forbidden Planet’ is based Shakespeare’s ‘The Tempest’.
Love both of those Clarke novels. I worry about how they would be done. Heinlein’s stories are wonderful, but Starship Troopers and Puppet Master were abominable. If they had actually done the stories as written, they would have been really good.
Anyway, I’m so impressed with your range of knowledge and the fact you have given a lot of thought to all these issues.
