As a point of corroboration about antibiotic resistance, people die of “toothaches” every day. Instead of taking care of the cause of the infection, swelling, and pain (pulling the tooth), it’s just easier to take an antibiotic. So the person does this repeatedly, and it works the first couple of times. When I refuse to give a patient an antibiotic and explain the danger to their life, I can tell they don’t believe me. So they develop a resistant infection, end up in ICU, and some of them die. From sheer refusal to face reality. It’s completely preventable.
