I attended the resentencing of Raven 23 and it is absolutely an inquisition. They are being trialed as civilians as if they robbed a convenience store. Nicholas Slatten still has a life sentence and the prosecution says he “lay in wait” for his victim as if he was some lunatic randomly sniping people on a highway in the US. Of course, the Grand Inquisitor allowed it. There is little to no regard at all for their military service or that they were soldiers in a warzone in one of the most dangerous places on earth. The overriding message of the government’s inquisition is, confess your sins otherwise they will really throw the book at you and don’t ANYONE dare plead innocent when you stand accused. Everything that’s wrong in Washington DC was occurring in that courtroom. I’m sure everyone that has gotten a traffic ticket and the policeman tells you he could have screwed you a lot. But, instead, he just screwed you a little bit. Well, I don’t say “thanks” or feel grateful for that anymore. It’s sort of the same thing happening to Raven 23 except with far more disingenuousness and infinitely more disastrous consequences. As most of us know ever since WWII these “wars” have been won or lost in Washington DC, not on the battlefields of Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam or North Korea. One might believe they’d be more serious about winning the current “war” since more people were killed on 9/11 right in front of their face then were killed at Pearl Harbor. But, we’d be wrong. Blackwater would likely not even exist if the government took war more seriously. For all the demonization of Military contractors? Its a creation of their own making. https://www.militarytimes.com/news/pentagon-congress/2019/09/08/sentences-reduced-for-3-blackwater-guards-from-2007-iraq-massacre/?fbclid=IwAR3r9eL1jbQqRe2qLPrfpqgifGW8kTlOoK7rZzUEyzDfa6u2nLFMVuDz9LY#.XXfJRN_sSad.facebook

The Trials and Tribulations of Raven 23.

Absolutely disgusting how our government and too many citizens treat contractors like Blackwater. The politicians (mostly when it benefits them) and the media (including TV Shows, movies and news) fuel a narrative that all contractors are doing this because they simply are brutal murderers which is obviously a lie.
Marybeth Laguna wrote this article about her husband Art who was a Blackwater employee killed when his helicopter was shot down in Baghdad. Among things she did not get deeply into in the article was the level of hate and vicious comments she received after Arts death and that Art and his crew crashed alive and were executed on the ground. The idea that these people were doing what asked and are being prosecuted is disgusting they deserve so much better. I would give all these guys the benefit of any doubt but that is just me. Minimally people like Art should be honored and respected.
