Thomas Massie – a HERO, not a “grandstander”!!!

In general I’ve been a big supporter of President Trump… I voted for him in 2016 and had planned to in 2020.  But after today, I’m starting to wonder.

I am absolutely LIVID… angry as hell, that Trump would call Thomas Massie a “grandstander” because he stood up for the Constitution, which last time I checked they were ALL supposed to do.

When you boil it all down, here’s how it looks:

1) Massie has always advocated for each new bill to be passed one issue at a time.  No more of this omnibus stuff where there’s pork and the bills are “decorated like a Christmas tree”.  Seems reasonable.

2) He was lambasted because he supposedly forced legislators to “risk their lives” to come in to do the vote.  He (rightly) figures there are a lot of “essential” workers, going to work every day, risking illness but they still do their jobs, so why shouldn’t the House too?  I’d say passing a multi-TRILLION dollar bill warrants in-person attendance.  He’s right.  Wash your hands, put on gowns, gloves, masks… whatever, and effing GO!!  And stop whining about it.

3) For a HUGE bill like this ask yourself why legislators are so adamant about NOT going on record with their votes.  That’s what Massie was pushing for, but his request was flatly denied.  That tells us a lot.

Not sure how much everybody knows about Thomas Massie, but he is a Representative for KY-4 and I have a lot of relatives there. I personally live about 5 miles outside his district, unfortunately. We all really like and respect him. From Wikipedia:  Massie earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  My point?  He’s a very smart man…. and not just “book smart”, he has a lot of common sense and he truly stands up for what is right in America.  Grandstander? (Like Romney?) Hardly. He’s an engineer, for God’s sake. I’m married to one and have several in the family and that is NOT how engineers are.  I deeply resent the President lambasting him like that.  The President is WRONG about Thomas Massie.

And to suggest that Massie should be ousted from the GOP?  NO!!  He should be running the damn GOP.  Some called his actions “disgraceful” and worse.  NO!  They are the disgraceful ones!

Some say “you need to pick your battles”.  Well damn!  If a multi-trillion dollar aid package – the largest single expenditure in the history of our country isn’t the right “battle”, then what the hell would be??  I’m so angry I could spit.

President Trump needs to apologize to Rep. Massie, like NOW.  And others should too.  And if we as Americans cannot appreciate someone having the courage to be the lone person standing in a room, with powerful people from government and media trying to intimidate him, and STILL he stood up for The People and the Constitution… then we deserve the crappy governance we’re going to get.

Please spread the word.  Massie is one of the GOOD guys.  One of the damn FEW remaining.  Maybe the ONLY one remaining.  Don’t let them assassinate his character.  It’s not right.

Thank you for the information Donna. I was holding my opinion about Rep. Massie until I knew more. I listened to him when he did an interview after the blow back he received. He impressed me as being a reasonable person so I disregarded Trump’s, and others, comments about him.

Not to defend Trump, but he is a typically New Yorker. Anything he sees as an obstacle he lashes out against. I give him considerable leeway because of the immense pressure he is under. He could just as easy turn around and call Rep. Massie and be best friends. LOL!

Yeah, I almost didn’t vote for Trump because of what he said about Ted Cruz’s wife. But Cruz got over it (and so did I) and now they’re besties. That’s just the way Trump is.

Not that I suggest that you have no reason to be upset, Donna! Please continue to stand up for your almost-Congressman, who does indeed sound like one of the good ones. I feel the same way about my former Congressman, Brian Babin of Texas 36. I moved out of his district just a few of months ago, and the district line is less than half a mile away. I’m so sad that I can’t vote for him anymore, and my new district is much more blue. Hope my vote might make a bigger difference in the future to turn my new district red.

And pardon my language (I just re-read what I wrote). I’m usually not a curser but I was cranked up that night…
