Transitory Vaccination

Thinking about the short-term protection of COVID-19 vaccination, I realize I have incorrectly viewed the terms “vaccination” and “immunization” as synonyms.  The pandemic has made the difference painfully obvious.

That lead to the mistake of thinking that after getting fully vaccinated I might not need to wear a mask.  Furthermore, I thought I wouldn’t be able to get or spread the virus.

So I’ve been wrong a lot.  This isn’t like any other vaccination I’ve had.  My expectation that this would work like other vaccinations was completely wrong.  But was I wrong to look at this through the lens of my other vaccination experiences?  Wouldn’t it make more sense that when something doesn’t match the norm, it is important to explain the differences so people aren’t confused?

It feels like calling the COVID-19 shot a vaccination is misleading.  With the protection measured in mere months, it’s not like any other vaccination I can think of.

While speaking about untruths, there has been a lot of talk about “transitory inflation.”  The lies go deeper about the current inflation, but it was the first and repeated often.

So I’ve come up with a term of my own.  The thing I love about it is that it combines the misleading terms we’ve been fed for months and creates a truthful term that pokes fun at the ones who have used the misleading ones.  I’m going to start calling the COVID-19 shots “transitory vaccination.”  I hope it catches on.

You have not been wrong about anything. The powers-that-be (“they”) have just changed the definitions to match the moving goal posts. Once “they” figured out that people would just go along to avoid confrontation, “they” continued to change the end game conditions in order to increase their own power and wealth.
