Trump Loses Hugely: Anatomy of a 2020 Progressive Victory

Josh Marshall, at TalkingPointsMemo.com, prepares Progressives for the possibility that President Trump loses the 2020 election…hugely! Trumps lagging popularity, the majority planning to vote against him, his weakness in the rust belt states, and recent surprising polling in Texas, all seem to map the anatomy of a shocking Democratic victory.

“Dewey defeats Truman”

The unknown candidate always struck me as a “do you like this party, or the guy the other party put up” kind of question. Except for a very few NeverTrumpers who write articles as if they were paid Democrat Shills (and might be for all I know) I don’t know that many people not voting for Trump would show up and actually vote for a Dem. Some might want to vote for Biden, thinking he’s a harmless, blue collar type and getting the loud mouth out of the White House would be a good thing, but that’s now… not after 5 months of Trump (“he fights”) campaign oppo research and “eeeeevil dark money” campaign ads pulling out all of the dark secrets the Dems tried to hide.

They say never wrestle with a pig, you only get dirty and the pig likes it. When the candidate is already seen as a pig by most and “at least he is our pig” by others, that’s not gonna stop someone from fighting dirty. From what anecdotal stories about Trump say, he’s more of an ordinary guy (at least as much as a guy with a high rise with his name on it can be) and probably disliked politicians as much as the guy who sweeps his floor or drives his car. He reacts to the elitists not as if he’s one of them but as one who is tired of being looked down upon, sneered at for not using the right fork and all the rest of the slings and arrows he’s suffered. Contrast that with Biden, Sanders and the other senators-for-life with more than one house (on a government salary?) and people will quickly see how thin and shallow they are. How much a part of the DC crowd we all dislike and feel are too far away.

Bill, The way Trump will lose is if you do not vote at all. I am sick of this dysfunctional two-party system composed of the party of evil and the party of do-nothing enablers. The thought has crossed my mind to sit out the election for the first time since I could vote and let the delusionals run the insane asylum. The forces of evil have never been stronger. What used to be unnatural is now natural. This country has never been more divided. The next civil war will not be geographical, but familial. It will not be North against South, but “brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.” Rome fell from within and America is headed in the same direction.

I fear Trump will lose. I don’t know how an informed, patriotic American could vote for any of the current Democratic candidates. But social media and the msm are going to do everything they can to make sure that as few Americans as possible are really informed.

Yes, Scott, but that influx of immigrants you cited should not be a factor. They will not be citizens by 2020, therefore will not be eligible to vote.

Constitutionally.

It’s true that demographics are important. But I’m more concerned about Democrat cheating in 2020. My wife never voted Democrat. But she passed away 9 years ago and I fear she might next time. 🙁

Ok, really struggling. I want to upvote because it’s a great line. But I fear it is a little dark and unfeeling to upvote a comment about your wife’s passing. So, very sorry for your loss. Gave you the upvote.

I just finished watching a 45min documentary last night on the FASA version of the 4 Years War. And I’ve even written some starship lore myself. Therefor I have some sympathy for Josh writing fanfic.

I never got paid for mine though. 8^(
