Waltzing Through Serenity Valley

I’m going to assume that a fair number of you enjoy the short-lived sci-fi property “Firefly”.  So I trust you’ll understand my reference when I say that the USSC failing to address this travesty made me feel very much like Mal Reynolds being told that no matter how hard he fought in Serenity Valley he’d be receiving no support and he should lay down arms.

Since last Friday, honestly, I’ve been preparing myself to spend the rest of my life telling people I was on the losing side, not the wrong side.

It’s with that frame of mind that I feel the impending reboot of Firefly is going to be a deliberate kick in our teeth. I know that the rebooted Mal Reynolds is going to be a polyamorous genderqueer fighting an interplanetary bad orange man. And as much as I know we have bigger things to worry about I’ll admit it makes me a little bit more sad.

At least I’ve got my originals on physical media, they can’t take that from me.

Hollywood taking a treasured property and deliberately destroying it by pushing their politics, .. not simply adding their politics, but they actively destroy everything that made the original great….
Surely not, why-ever would you think such a thing?!

Yeah, it’s going to be a hard “no” from me as well. They’re talking about rebooting it for Disney+ and, at a minimum, they want to remove some of the more PG-13 elements like Inara’s profession and Jayne’s general attitude.
In hindsight I’m actually grateful that Firefly went the way it did. The 13 episodes and one movie we got are, as you say, perfect. Had the show gone on I’m certain that Joss Whedon would have woke-ified it.

Of course they’re rebooting it! They have to “correct” it.
It has confident, masculine males, feminine, sexually assured and capable women who like masculine men, and people who treat each other with respect for who they are.
This attitude must be wiped from existence and replaced with cry-bully PC woke-ism and anti-white racism.

For the children…
Not a second. Not an instant of that trash will pass my router. I’ll watch my DVDs of Firefly and Serenity and know that I have seen the perfect show.
They can’t take the sky from me!

The casting was perfect. The chemistry–perfect. The conflict and worldbuilding–perfect. The Larger Message, perfect. The writing–gorram shiny perfect.
Of course Disney wants to ruin it. They’ve ruined everything they touched for 20 years at least.
