What Americans Look and Sound Like… (before they come to the United States).
America is a set of ideals, that the individual person is the most important unit of value in the society; and specifically not the state. It’s a Judeo-Christian concept that is as old as is God’s plan of salvation envisioned before the world was formed, put in place to recover the value of the human soul.
I caught these guys on YouTube catching up on my newsfeeds and subscriptions this morning, and I found myself smiling through the first ten minutes. They’ve constructed an R/C (radio controlled) model aircraft that is powered by a hand-built jet engine.
There’s so much personal joy in the success of their design and watching it fly for the first time, I just couldn’t help but smile at the American spirit of “go do it, no-one’s going to tell you you’re not allowed”. They are using several GoPro cams mounted on the airframe as well as a drone they are operating in the airspace overhead. It’s a totally fun series of events to watch.
Ok, they’re NOT the best RC pilots, but any landing you can walk away from… yes?
This is why America is exceptional, the system that values the individual and encourages them to succeed or fail under their own steam. We don’t have better people per se, we have a system that encourages and enables those people, no matter who they are. That personal can-do American ideal and attitude exists in places other than North America between Canada and Mexico… now, how do we get these guys over here? 😀
I thought Bill might enjoy this for it’s aeronautical value and might get a kick out of sharing it with Natasha for it’s relation to the land from which she rose (I assume the guys are speaking Russian…).
America is the idea that I can do anything and no one will tell me I can’t. These guys have it spades… too much fun!
