I figured it would be a good idea to have a place for members and testers to share their ideas or ask questions to each other. For instance, I had the idea that “what if we had a like button on blog posts in addition to the a like button for each comment?”
I don’t want to submit such an idea as a bug or issue, because maybe it’s a bad idea. I figure we could use the comment space from this blog post to brainstorm. It would be a place where someone could come along and tell me why having a like button on a blog post is a smart or stupid idea and why. Or, and this is the best part, it could lead to far greater ideas.
Anyway, just an idea…

I look forward to seeing the official return of the Bill Whittle store. I’d like a backup TSL mug and maybe a Safe Space shirt or something. I know Bill talked about the release of artwork at one point. Is that how it will occur?
If we wanted some sort of member-contributed art place, there’s a thing called Booru which actually makes this sort of thing easy. Definitely want to restrict it to members though in case someone abuses it and uploads something stupid. https://booru.org/
Bill mentioned he was going to make his artwork available so we could take it to Cafe Press or somewhere and get our own products printed up with them. Coffee mugs, mouse pads, and such.
I’d like to see notifications when TSL goes live. Possibly other content being posted as well.
If there’s an affordable SMS gateway out there, they could set up something where Bill could mass text everyone. Nexmo and a few others offer a free trial for that sort of thing but I have no idea of the pricing. If it pans out, I suggest calling it a BW Presidential Alert 😛
Hey Tom! So glad to see ya here! <3
To answer your question, I suggested to Scott a weekly column penned by one of the boys answering a member question. Kinda like TSL, but only one question, in written form, and not limited to Bill.
They are already video producers, and now you ask them to write too?
I like it, but I don’t want these guys to burn themselves out trying to turn this site into Breitbart (though I expect in the fullness of time it will challenge them a bit).
Always push the envelope. If they are unable or unwilling, they always let us know, in the kindest of ways.
Never hurts to ask, tho!
I have a feeling that as this blog grows, we will have to structure the blog posts in a better way. First of all, people’s blog posts need to show up on their pages. I imagine that eventually people will begin regularly posting blog posts in a connected series. When one member wishes to read the latest post in a series, or go back and read the beginning posts of that series, there must be a way to group those posts together, and for members to search existing blog posts. Putting them on the member page of their author would be a start. Perhaps establishing a “Followed” page that shows the blogs of members who you have followed would help?
I envisioned a Tapatalk type of forum before seeing what the blog system looks like. I like your idea, but I like seeing individual posts as well. It’s almost as if I’d have to see the options in action before I would be able to choose a preference.
I did not mean get rid of the current blog page, I just meant add to it.
Would a “watched” indicator be of any use to others? I sometimes (read: always) lose track of what I have and have not watched.
That’s an interesting idea.
I like that idea a great deal.
Hey Tom, I actually sent Scott a message about an idea just like this. He asked me to send them as bug/issues so that he could use his tracking tool.
But I do like your idea of posting some here to get a feel if it is a good idea before starting the ticket.
I also like seeing somebody else’s complaint or idea and building upon it or have it trigger a new idea. Like the creation of Post-it notes.
