Love Razorfist. Wearing his shirt as I type this. Haven’t read The Shadow but he has gotten me into Solomon Kane.
Razor’s opinion of Bond films and football are questionable, but other than that, he’s pretty cool.
I got that book on Solomon Kane after he talked about it, it’s languishing in my “to read” stack though. I’ve never read The Shadow though I have listened to some of the radio shows, the written version sounds more hard core.
Kane’s been pretty good action adventure stuff. But then I’ve been getting into pulps and penny-dreadfuls for a little while now. My only complaint re: it is that its a compilation of Kane stories from newspapers and magazines I guess. So the stories are fragments and, in one case, just stops. Unresolved.
I am greatly disappointed. As a child, I listen to the original radio presentations of The Shadow. It was part the golden era of radio. No fuzzy TV pictures to interfere with the clear vision of imagination that was better than ANY TV show ever presented.
When this post appeared, I was expecting a series of presentations of the actual Shadow episodes and not some opinionated know nothing blabbering endlessly, giving his opinions about what he thought about The Shadow series.
I don’t want people telling me what to think. I am fully capable of doing that for myself. I wanted to re-experience the program not as a child but as an adult of 82 years.
I expected it to be a much richer experience. Your mileage might very but, be warned, it is not worth your time compered to listening to the episodes first hand. Especially in the dark of night when you are supposed to be going to sleep.
