What’s in a name?

When I saw the WHO’s Tedros Adhnom making such a thing about the “approved” specific name for the coronavirus, Covid-19, I thought little of it. When I saw the MSM losing their little minds about the use of the terms Wuhan, or Chinese Flu, the penny dropped. 

The government in Beijing is highly adept at turning their failures into propaganda successes. They are desperate to kill anything that reminds people of where this virus started, how it started and, very importantly, how it got out without being contained at source. Any name that ties the virus to China and the Chinese Communist Party in people’s minds undermines their current kulturkampf.

Mainstream media bias and hypocrisy?                                                                            Surely not…

It’s interesting that the MSM themselves were happily using the term Wuhan Flu or Virus until the message from Beijing came through. I even saw a montage on the excellent Louder with Crowder where a moderator at a Democrat Primary debate used the term. Yet now, somehow Trump is a “racist” for mentioning where the virus started.

I must admit, I personally think the term Chinese is less than desirable. There have been a few nasty little incidents of thuggish fools taking out their fear and frustration on Chinese and other East Asian people. These few whisps of straw have been gleefully taken up by the MSM to make a lot of bricks, which they’ve then thrown at Trump. It’s better not to give the MSM any more ammo. Also, the people of China should not be held accountable for the crimes and fubars of the Chinese Communist Party of which they are the prime victims. 

So, what do we call it? How do we avoid blame and shame being directed at innocent Chinese folk but preserve in people’s minds just who is responsible for this bloody mess? How to make sure the blame and shame goes to those who deserve it and subvert Beijing’s propaganda? You probably know that the current head of the Chinese Communist state, Xi Jinping, utterly hates people commenting on how he bears a resemblance to the beloved character Winnie the Pooh.
