Much of the public discussion since President Trump struck down Qassem Soleimani, the leader of Iran’s terrorist Quds Force, calls into question Trump’s reasons, his sanity, and his political motives. Is it possible to disagree with , or even dislike, Donald Trump, but still think the move had a rational basis that may turn out to have been morally and strategically correct. Mr. Green, your statement at the beginning called those Presidents after Ronald Reagan, Clinton, Bush and Obama as WEAK and then pulled back as MORE Mystified. I would disagreed with you. They bought head and shoulders into what the so called WRONG very WRONG advise given them by those leading “experts.” Like the entire Republican and now RINO WHIG Do NOTHING Lite Party, they turned a blind eye and a deaf ear to the TERROR through PROXIES that Iran used to KILL and Destroy Americans (600 or more) and the 1000s where many were Muslims. I do believe that they were 100% WRONG and were not looking out for the BEST interests of America. They took the easy Path. They believe that Diplomacy would work with the 7th Century Islamo-Fascists. It did not nor has it worked up to the Presidency of Donald J. Trump.
Mark Levin on his Radio Program and LevinTV has offered forth the Trump Doctrine. So what’s the Trump Doctrine? I say it’s much like the Reagan Doctrine, but it has its own features to it,” Levin explained. “He believes in having the number-one military on the face of the earth, so he’s had to rebuild the military that, under the Obama Doctrine, they degraded. But he doesn’t believe in these interventions; he doesn’t believe in state-building. So he rejects the Obama Doctrine when it comes to the United States military and weakening it. He rejects the Bush Doctrine when it comes to interventionism and state-building; he saw what happened in Iraq. But he believes in American national security.” Levin added that Trump “exercises prudence” on questions of foreign policy: “He doesn’t say, ‘Look, in every case, I’m sending in the United States military,’ and he doesn’t say, ‘In every case, I’m going to appease through diplomacy.”
Donald J. Trump ran on MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. I would contend that he is doing exactly that within the Power he has under Article II of the Constitution. The NEW Democratic Socialist (OXYMORON) Party is doing everything they can excluding the Good with heavy emphasis on gthe Bad and Ugly to destroy him and his Presidency.
The Left/Progressive/Modern Liberal/Democratic Socialist (OXYMORON)/Statist/Marxist no longer can control themselves in proving “Ignorance is NEVER an excuse for Stupidity” jumping quickly and often into “STUPID is STUPID.”
The headlines both on Cable NEWS, the Alphabet Networks and online supported the mass murderer over the President and his actions to take the head of Quds Force and the #1 Iraqi Leader OUT.
Go figure? WHOSE? side are these Americans on?
This discussion should not occur in a vacuum. Look at the chain of events including what came before and what followed Soleimani’s assassination. Whereas Osama Bin Laden financed a couple of attacks and then retreated to his hideaway in Pakistan, Soleimani was the prime mover, the leader of a continuum of terrorists attacks responsible for many more deaths than Bin Laden, and there were more to follow. Then, when Iran took revenge by launching several ballistic missiles at an American base in Iran, President Trump didn’t launch another attack on Iran. He laughed at their incompetence, their impotence, inasmuch as the missile attack failed to cause any significant damage. What would President Clinton or President Obama have done, what did they do in similar circumstances? They launched more attacks. In light of that simple truth, it is hypocritical to the max to accuse President Trump of being out of control, a rogue, a cowboy. Indeed, in light of their history, I would say that President Trump is the most presidential President exercising the greatest judgement and restraint, that we’ve seen in a long time
Watching the ep this morning over breakfast, I was planning on going into a whole long screed re: taking down Soleimani. But now I’m here… well, I’m not a writer.
Upshot, it’s always been déclassé to kill the important people, the king, nobility, elite. Even for the the elite to kill the other elite on the other side of the battlefield. This goes back to Alexander, at least. And when it occasionally does happen, the elite panic, they freak out, they loose their guano. It’s OK if a 100 or 1000 peasants get killed. But a nobleman? That’s bad. And the press consider themselves part of the elite.
Yes, the self selected parasitical elite have always considered themselves above we peasants, above common law, and worthy to take their keep from us just because of the fact they are the elite. It is beyond their capacity to think a mere peasant would dare injure them let alone kill them for doing what only the elite can do and think they should be able to get away with. They need to think again.
As far as I am concerned, such elitists aren’t worth two cents. They need us and we don’t need them. There are many more out there who have earned a one way ticket to hell. At least one very deserving elitist has had his ticket punched and sent on his one way trip.
That one big Australian kid body slamming that much smaller bully.
Bravissimo, gentlemen!
Absolutely a brilliant comparison with Yamamoto Bill.
I agree with Bill about the attacking and killing of Yamamoto, but disagree with him on the “was there someone better to take his place?” Yes there was, but the Japanese command structure suppressed their abilities (Read Shattered Sword – explains it all) I believe that Scott may agree –
I read “Shattered Sword” but I can’t recall who you’re thinking of.
In the beginning of the book when Pearl Harbor was being planned Nagano rightly advised not to attack the US. If they left the US alone, they would be very hard pressed to swing public opinion to enter the war… Then with Midway, Miyos arguments far surpassed Yamamotos plan, Yamamotos ego won the day and disaster followed (ON both accounts)… If would like more detail, please advise—- Thanks
Thank God for Scottie’s calm voice of reason. Both Bill and Steve brought up very valid and reasonable points of their own but Scottie just has that peace about him that “…passes all understanding.”
Gentlemen – wonderful academic discussion… points well made and arguments well founded, BUT I’m afraid that I disagree with you at a fundamental level. I agree with Mark Steyn (America Alone) That the very notion of sovereign nations and unique cultures is meaningless to these people (the leaders, not the average person, generally speaking). There is only one issue to consider, Infidel or Muslim… that’s it…The caliphate, as I understand it, is a world wide lordship. No countries…Therefore, they use the idea of the country,Iran, only as a device to cover or internationally protect their actions and goals. They pretend to be a country so that the wack-a-lib-a-doodles keep shouting “SOVEREIGN NATION” while the leaders giggle and say – useful idiots… Bill is right about bullies in general, but these are not typical bullies. Hitler and Tojo were defeated on a political/ economic and military level (Japanese “religious” attitudes not withstanding) But an idea &/or a deep rooted faith is much more difficult to suppress or conquer. This will continue until all of the leadership is gone, not just one general and as you said, the people can self determine. I believe that I would plan to “take out” his replacement and anyone else who takes the job. You can’t just bloody their nose. They just consider that part of the cost of doing business. Heck, they send their children with bombs strapped to their chests to do their dirty work for Pete’s sake….. The “general” was a useful tool that had lived out its usefulness..no true mourning or loss. Islam, Caliphate, Sharia, power and subjugation are the end game and all that matters– by any means—
This truly is a clash of civilizations. Islam believes that Western Civilization is evil.
It is frustrating to speak with smart, educated (propagandized?) people who conflate all religions as basically similar superstitious claptrap.
CS Lewis said… If no set of moral ideas were truer or better than any other, there would be no sense preferring civilized morality to savage morality, or Christian morality to Nazi morality…. this is the battle we face against the wack-a-doodles ….
Trump’s action was constitutionally, morally, and strategically correct.
At first, when I heard about the Iranian rocket attack of TWO of our military bases, I was of the opinion that we should reply with Trump’s 52 options and hit them hard. After thoughtful consideration of the fact, they most likely intentionally sent the rockets into the middle of the desert distant from our base improvement, I concluded, again, they are nothing but bullies and cowards.
It is well known that bullies are actually cowards and, when knocked down, will fear getting back up. At most, the bully will cry “your mother wears army boots” while he is running away.
The rockets in the open desert is Iran’s equivalent of such a cry. Perhaps they realize that there actually are American mothers there who are wearing army boots, are fully armed, and willing to engage. An angry American, male or female, willing to act with full force is the last person they want to face. Especially one who is flying a fully armed stealth bomber or fighter.

Apparently the rockets from Iran were intended to kill Americans but missed their targets. This changes everything. They are not only stupid, they are over the top reckless. A very dangerous combination that is inconsistent with life on earth.
Trump should let our military hounds lose to do their thing on Iranian targets! To hell with their so called cultural artifacts. Make sure the Iranian government and economy is knocked down so HARD that it will take a very long time for them to recover. If they want to live ass 8th century savages, make sure that is their ONLY choice.
